The Honor View 10 was unveiled today at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) trade show. The handset – also known as the Honor V10 in some markets – will make it to the U.S. market (unlocked) in the next few months.
Honor View 10 – specs
The Honor View 10 with a 6-inch quad-HD screen could prove a threat to the popular OnePlus 5T and to bigger players like Samsung and LG, if it gets support from the carriers. The handset sports dual rear cameras, and a flagship-quality processor. The smartphone sports a Kirin 970 chipset, which also powers the Huawei Mate 10 series. The chip gives good competition to the Snapdragon 835 on all fronts, notes AndroidAuthority.
The Honor View 10 will come in two storage options, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The handset is powered by a 3,750 mAh battery.
“You can use the Honor View 10 for 5.5 hours of gaming, 19 hours of video playback, 160 hours of music playback, 21 hours of 4G browsing, or 23 hours of 3G talk,” the company says.
On top of the Android 8.0 Oreo, the handset runs Huawei’s latest EMUI 8.0 Android skin. The handset sports 16MP color and 20MP monochrome cameras on the back, and a 13MP camera on the front. It also has a headphone jack.
Will it be a hit in the U.S?
The handset is already available to the buyers in China, India, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. Later this month, it will be made available in Malaysia and Russia. The smartphone will also hit the U.S., but the pricing and the availability is not known yet. However, considering its £449 price tag in the UK, the handset could be expected to be priced around $600.
In terms of specs, the Honor View 10 is quite similar to Huawei’s flagship Mate 10 Pro, which is more expensive than the former. But, Huawei’s flagship could have an edge in terms of reach as the company is soon expected to announce a partnership with AT&T.
Huawei’s EMUI Android skin could prove a major drawback for the View 10, as is seen with the Honor 7X. Even though the EMUI is useful, it disturbs the real Android experience, something that the U.S. buyers may dislike, notes PCMag. However, if the handset comes with a price similar to what it has been priced overseas; it could make a mark in the U.S. unlocked market.
Honor 7X also coming to the U.S.
Another Honor phone coming to the U.S. is the $199 priced 7X. Notably, the affordable handset brings the 18:9 aspect ratio and skinny bezels, in addition to the color red availability. The Honor 7X has a metal build, sports dual cameras and a 3340mAh battery. Further, it has a fingerprint sensor on the back and a Micro USB port for charging. Unlike, the recent phones, Honor 7X also has a headphone jack.
The red colored Honor 7X will be a limited edition for Valentine’s Day. It will also be made available in the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Russia and India. According to Android Police, only 20,000 units of this limited edition handset will be sold, while the first 100 phones will come with Monster AM15 earphones.
