Elon Musk ‘Accidentally’ Attends Silicon Alleged Valley Sex Party

Updated on

After Bloomberg reporter Emily Chang broke the story last year on white male privilege in the tech industry, the mention of a Silicon Valley sex party has been in and out of the news. It appears as if Elon Musk attended the party ‘accidentally’ back in June of 2017.

A Problem With Diversity

According to Chang, the Silicon Valley sex party is an example of white male privilege in California’s tech industry. With the majority of tech employees being predominantly male and Caucasian, the majority of power and influence is in the hands of one homogeneous group.

Chang spoke of Silicon Valley’s “bro-centric” culture, which she reports is dominated by men who didn’t lose their virginity until they were 25. This kind of sexual tension combined with the huge amounts of money being thrown around by the nouveau riche of the tech industry led to a secretive Silicon Valley sex party with a pretty exclusive guest list.

While there hasn’t been any truly damning evidence regarding the existence of any Silicon Valley sex party, rumors have floated around both the industry and the general public – and it appears as if Elon Musk unwittingly attended the party, held in June of 2017.

Silicon Valley Sex Party

Elon Musk attended the Silicon Valley sex party, but apparently it was by mistake. The party, which took place at the home of Steve Jurvetson from DCF, was a “corporate costume party” according to Musk.

A spokesman for Musk gave an explanation for the attendance to Business Insider:

“Elon was at the party for a couple hours and left around 1am after talking with several DFJ-funded entrepreneurs about technology and building companies. His impression was that it was a corporate party with a costume theme, not a ‘sex party’, and there was no indication that it would become one after he left.”

Another party attendee told Business Insider that “”[he didn’t] want this to be anti-climactic, but [he] didn’t see any sex or drugs…[he] went home at 12:30 am, and [he] guess[es] sex parties don’t really kick off until the boring f–kers go home. [He] didn’t exactly know it was a sex party, and [he] got bored at some point and went home.”

According to the site, Elon Musk did in fact attend the party, but he spent his time talking about technology and business before leaving around 1 am. Whether this statement is to believed is up for debate, but considering that both Musk and the other party attendee claimed there was no sex or drug use happening at this “Silicon Valley sex party” there may be truth to what he has to say.

As of now, there’s little evidence to suggest that this Silicon Valley sex party actually exists, and it appears that this shindig at Jurvetson’s house may have actually been an innocent costume party rather than some sort of orgy.

A Reputation To Uphold

While Elon Musk and his reps claim that there was nothing strange going on at the Silicon Valley sex party, it’s important to keep in mind that Musk has a lot to lose if he were to be outed as part of some secretive sex ring. It wasn’t possible for him to deny that he was actually present at the party, so he took the avenue of explaining that it was a simple costume party and not quite what he expected.

As the CEO of both the biggest player in self-driving car technology as well as a private spaceflight company, Musk has built a reputation as a major contributor to the tech and science scene and is generally held in high-regard. If it turned out that Musk was truly a contributor to this “bro-centric” culture, it may negatively affect both his personal reputation as well as the success of his businesses. The last thing that Tesla or SpaceX needs is some sort of boycott of their products, although that might be a little bit of an extreme reaction to attendance at some sort of Silicon Valley sex party.

We think that Musk’s explanation for accidently attending is much more likely than some massive coverup scheme, especially considering his track record of being a pretty normal and decent guy, but the world may never be truly convinced given the secrecy surrounding the bizarre Silicon Valley sex party.
