Bored? Then Watch This Guy Put Coke In The Gas Tank Of A BMW

Updated on

Since many holiday gifts might take the form of expensive iPhones or other smartphones, some people might be getting into the mood to do some very odd things to these gadgets for two simple reasons: because they can, and just so they can see what happens. For some reason, a YouTuber who’s well-known for destroying expensive things in various ways began to ask himself, “What would happen if you put Coke in the gas tank of your car?”

And so he decided to pit soda against a BMW. We just want to preface this with, don’t try this at home, at work, or anywhere else. That should be obvious (we would hope), but given how lacking common sense is with some people these days, we just think it’s important to state that.

See what happens when you put Coke in the gas tank

YouTuber Techrax wasted no time in pouring a two-liter bottle of Coke in the gas tank of a BMW wagon, commenting that he likes to help people out by saving them money. It’s hard to imagine how using Coke in the gas tank of your car would save you money, even if it did turn out to be a plausible substitute for gasoline in vehicles, but he decided to give it a try. Let’s just say that we’re not too worried about spoilers here because it should be obvious what’s going to happen.

The vehicle had a little bit of gas in the tank when he started pouring the soda into it. Part of the way through that first two-liter bottle, the vehicle’s engine still sounded fine, so he decided to take the BMW for a spin. The engine still sounded fine as he accelerated while taking off, but after stopping at a stop sign about a minute into the drive, things started to sound pretty strange.

Why it’s such a bad idea to put Coke in the gas tank of your car

The YouTuber said it seemed like the gas gauge increased suddenly, and it seemed like they were hearing the carbonation bubbling through the engine. Then the BMW tried to stall out while he was driving before flipping on the “check engine” light. It did stall finally when he stopped at a stop sign.

Aside from the obvious reason not to put Coke in the gas tank of your car, which is that it will damage your car, you can also see in the video that he was driving the vehicle on regular streets. While there didn’t seem to be a lot of people or other vehicles around, there was still plenty of potential for things to go very, very wrong, as they did encounter a few other drivers along the way.

It’s a good thing that the vehicle stalled while at a stop sign rather than while in motion, but there was plenty of potential for other things to go wrong with the vehicle, causing him to lose control and hit a pedestrian or another vehicle.
