Selling tickets for a launch event is an unusual practice, but OnePlus says it won’t be making money from the OnePlus 5T launch event. All the proceeds from the event will go to charity, and ticket holders will receive giveaways worth up to $70, according to The Verge. The Chinese company gave no further information on the name of the charity that will get the proceeds from the ticket sales or what exactly ticket holders will be getting.

Tickets can be purchased online starting November 8. If you want to save $40 but still see the launch event live, you can watch the live-stream online for free. Following the OnePlus 5T launch event on November 16, the handset will be available in North America and Europe starting on November 21. In India, the handset will be available starting on November 28, while in China, sales will start December 1. In India, the handset will be exclusive to Amazon, at least initially).

What to expect from the OnePlus 5T

Not much is known about the handset except for the fact that it will have a headphone jack.

“Every feature, removed or added, is based on our understanding of user needs. For the time being, we think it’s best to stick with the headphone jack,” OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed recently.

The OnePlus 5T is expected to come with 6-inch 2160 x 1080 resolution (18:9 aspect ratio) OLED screen and two rear-facing 20MP camera lenses with a Sony IMX image processor inside. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor and may sport a fingerprint sensor on the rear. Similar to the OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 5T is expected to come in two variants: one with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage and the other with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

The upcoming phone is expected to run on OnePlus’ Oxygen OS based on Android Nougat, which later will be upgraded to Android Oreo. A 3450mAh battery with dash charge is expected to power the smartphone. The overall design of the OnePlus 5T is expected to be similar to that of the Oppo R11s. OnePlus and Oppo share the same parent company.

The handset is expected to cost about $600.This hint came from CEO Lau, who when asked on Weibo if the phone will cost 4,000 yuan (around $603), responded that it will be “enough.” A $600 price tag also seems to be in line with the company’s pricing strategy. The OnePlus 5 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage is priced at $539.
