OnePlus announced the release of the OnePlus 5T, its second flagship phone of 2017. The new gadget features very similar hardware to the previous model, OnePlus 5, but it comes with an 18:9 feature ratio display, putting it on the same level as the Google Pixel 2 XL. The device hit the market on Nov. 16, at least for preorders, and it will be on sale on Nov. 21. But how does it compare to the Google Pixel 2 XL? OnePlus 5T vs Google Pixel 2 XL – Design

The OnePlus 5T comes with an anodized aluminum structure with chamfered edges and rounded corners. It features a horizontally-aligned dual camera in the upper left-hand side of the back, while a fingerprint sensor is located in the center of the back, just above its logo. The front side of the phone is mostly screen with slim bezels at the bottom and top, while a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C are located at the bottom of the gadget. The phone measures 156.1 x 75 x 7.3mm, weighs 162g and doesn’t have an IP rating.

The Google Pixel 2 XL also comes with an aluminum design, although it incorporates glass lining at the top of the back, making for a different finish. Within this glass lining, is the single lens camera and flash, and below that you will find the fingerprint sensor. Its front part is almost full-screen, with bezels at the bottom. At the top of the device, you will see front-facing speakers. The Google Pixel 2 XL also features a USB Type-C at the bottom but it doesn’t come with a headphone jack. The phone measures 157.9 x 76.7 x 7.9mm, weighs 175g, and offers IP68 dust and water resistance.

The OnePlus 5T comes with a 6.01-inch display featuring a great resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, leading to a pixel density of about 401ppi. The device opted for an Optic AMOLED panel, which is covered by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass but does not feature mobile HDR support.

The Google Pixel 2 XL comes with a 6-inch display featuring an even better resolution of 2880 x 1440, leading to a pixel density of about 538ppi. The device opted for an OLED panel, which is covered by 3D Corning Gorilla Glass, and features HDR support.

The OnePlus 5T comes with a dual camera on the back, made up of the primary 16 megapixels sensor with a superb f/1.7 aperture and 1.12um pixels as well as a secondary 20 megapixels sensor with an aperture of f/1.7 and 1um pixels. It comes with a dual LED flash and it offers features such as a Pro Mode for manual control of shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, and Portrait Mode for bokeh images. OnePlus 5T vs Google Pixel 2 XL – Hardware

The OnePlus 5T comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor accompanied by either 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM or 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. It doesn’t offer microSD support for additional storage. It’s fitted with a 3300mAh battery and it supports the fast-charging tech, Dash Charge, and is usually charged through the USB port.

The Google Pixel 2 XL operates on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform, accompanied by 4GB of RAM with an alternative of 128GB or 64GB of storage. It doesn’t support microSD support. It has a 3520mAh battery which supports fast-charging through the USB port.

The OnePlus 5T operates on OxygenOS, which is an upgraded version of the famous Android Nougat. Android is the dominant element but there are specific features of OnePlus elements.

The OnePlus 5T major selling point is its amazing hardware at almost half the price of the Google Pixel 2 XL. You still enjoy the 18:9 aspect ratio for the best viewing, together with a dual back camera, a great resolution front cam, plenty of power, as well as more RAM than the Google Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel 2 XL does offer better resolution display.
