The iPhone X was launched publicly only a few days ago and started shipping out to users who pre-ordered it on Oct. 27. Apple’s newest flagship was the center of attention the past few days. As you may know, the iPhone X is equipped with various handy features, of which one of them is the new facial recognition system Face ID, which ditched the Touch ID, present on previous iPhone devices. Some users have reported that the Face ID is not working on their new, stylish iPhone X. In this article, we compiled tips and tricks on how to fix the Face ID not working, for those who are experiencing this problem.
Tip 1: Turn It Off And On
One of the first things you should do is to turn off/on the Face ID. If you don’t know how to do that, navigate to the Settings app, go to Face ID & PassCode, tap Use Face ID, and then Disable iPhone Unlock.
Turn off your device. Long-press the side button and either of the Volume Up or Down buttons. Drag the slider and turn off your iPhone X. Now press the side button, until the Apple logo appears. Go back to the Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode, tap Use Face ID, and Enable the iPhone Unlock.
Tip 2: Reset Face ID
In case turning off and on the Face ID didn’t turn out to solve your problem, reset the Face ID feature. The system will remove all the mathematical representations of your face. Go to the Settings app, tap Face ID & Passcode, and then Reset Face ID.

Once you have done that, set up Face ID again.
Tip 3: Reset All Settings
If none of the above tips and tricks helped you fix Face ID not working on your iPhone X, you would have to reset your device to the factory settings. While the factory reset will erase all your Wi-Fi passwords and website logins, rest assured that your personal data, pictures, and other media will stay untouched.
Go to the Settings app, tap General, tap Reset, and Reset All Settings.
If none of these tips helped you address the issue with the Face ID not working, you would have to contact Apple support and ask them to help solve the problem.

It is essential to ensure that nothing is blocking your TrueDepth camera. The iPhone cases that weren’t designed properly for your particular iPhone model can cover the camera and prevent it from taking pictures. Also, ensure that there’s no dirt around the camera. Make sure that you aren’t wearing a model of sunglasses that are covering certain types of light, your eyes, or mouth. Also, if you are exposed to the sunlight, ensure to position yourself so that the sun isn’t directly behind you.
