Users Experience iOS 11.0.2 Problems After Update

iOS 11 has not been a pleasant experience for many users. There have been reports of a wide variety of problems from WiFi issues to messaging issues to an annoying home button delay. One of the most common complaints, however, seems to be about the battery life in iOS 11. There is no shortage of complaints online about battery life being greatly reduced after making the move to iOS 11. Just spend a few minutes on Reddit or Twitter and you will surely see someone make mention of their iOS 11 battery life (or lack thereof).

Apple has pushed out two updates to iOS 11 (iOS 11.0.1 and iOS 11.0.2) but neither seems to have fixed the issues causing fast loss of battery life. In fact, a lot of users have been downgrading back to iOS 10.3.3 if the option is available. So, what exactly is causing these iOS 11.0.2 problems and why is battery life still an issue for iPhone users?

There are several reasons that people could be experiencing poor battery life and other iOS 11.0.2 problems. We covered some ways to fix your poor iOS 11 battery life but most of the fixes are stop gap solutions until Apple is able to push out an update that addresses the root cause of the battery drain issue.

Every major iOS update causes battery life to decrease a little faster. Usually this is only for a short time as Spotlight indexes all of your files and apps in the background. However, after this process is done, your iPhone should stop experiencing rapid battery drain. That is clearly not the case with iOS 11. Something is continuing to suck battery life from devices even after two updates from Apple. In fact, many commentators online are recommending that you DON’T update to iOS 11.0.2 because of Apple’s failure to improve battery life drain and the potential for new bugs to be introduced. If you have auto update turned on then you may want to consider going into your device settings and turning off that feature.

When will Apple respond to these iOS 11.0.2 problems? You have to think that the number of users complaining on social media about poor battery life will prompt a response from the company. Perhaps the issue is that older devices simply cannot keep up with iOS 11? That would be a disasterous admission for Apple. What’s more likely is that they continue to quietly work on the issue and release fixes on the fly.

  1. IPad Pro.

My home button does not recognize my fingerprint about 70% of the time.

Battery life seems to have dwindled.

When I leave my home WiFi the iPad will not pick-up the cellular network without shutting off the iPad completely.

  2. Updated to 11.0.2 and my iPhone 6plus is very slow now. Even the battery life is not keeping upto the previous 10.3.3 version set up.

Looks like Apple going Nokia way, not keeping up to public expectations.

  3. Trying to download music from my computer, just got a vehicle I can stream in, and now I cannot get the downloads into my phone. Worked great until 11.0.2.

  4. Since the update my connectivity has been significantly affected – no access at all when I’m not on wifi. Neither Apple or Verizon has been able to fix the problem and now they are suggesting that I get a new device. When there was NOTHING wrong until the update.

  5. Air print does not work on the new IPad Pro with IOS 11.02. It works on the iPhone. The problem is with the IOS software not the printer based on experience with AirPrint on the phone. Fix it!

  6. I have an iPhone 7 128GB with only 3 months of use. I’ve upgrade to iOS 11.0.2 and my battery drains twice as fast. I turn off Locations, apps in background, Siri, Brightness to minimum, etc. Please Apple, fix it!

  7. Never had any issues until an Apple Software “UPDATE” 11.0.2 pretty much killed my ipad. I plan on returning it back for a refund based on the Manufactorer messing its applications up. If someone spends $300.00 on an ipad and it is working just fine, then do not keep throwing that I need a software update in my face.
Absolutely rediculious Apple!!!!!! Go away and leave me alone.

  8. The problems go on and on and on… here are my particular iPhone 6 issues:
An hour on the phone with Apple when upon loading 11.0.1, it crashed so badly that the power button refused to function.

No ‘back’ and ‘forward’ arrow keys on the keyboard – the touchscreen was never accurate enough for me to hit a particular letter position when emailing or texting, but at least the arrow keys meant that I didn’t have to backspace and lose what I had already written.

Battery life down by at least 1/3 possibly 1/2, I cannot get through a normal day without charging, and I’m an old fart who doesn’t use the damn phone all that much. I used to be able to go at least a day and a half before it required a charge.

My car (2015 Honda) lost bluetooth contact with the phone. It worked fine for 2 1/2 years through 2 IOS upgrades and now it’s useless.

I also have found the ‘copy and paste’ functions are inconsistent at best. The reality is that they don’t work 90% of the time, even within the same app let alone between apps.

Worst of all, even with an older iOS backup on my MBP, Apple does not allow us to go back to a functional OS.

As it is right, now my ‘smart’ phone is just seriously a DUMB phone.

If fixes aren’t immediately forthcoming, it’s time for lawyers.

  9. My iPad Mini2 has poor battery life, slower and more apps crashing ever since the updates. What is going on with Apple? iOS7 was the last ‘it just works’ release.

  10. I absolutely hate iOS 11.0.2! Not only is it hard on battery life, but features like copy and paste don’t work properly either. And the keyboard is nothing but a completely confusing mess too! I’ll be soooooo glad when they get their heads screwed on straight!
