If you have been following the news regarding the iOS 11 betas, you may know that this week, iOS 11.1 Beta 3 became available, while iOS 11.1 Beta 2 was available for download the week before. iOS 11.1 Beta 1 came out a week and a half before the second beta was released. Thus, although Apple has not given an official date, we can draw some conclusions about the expected iOS 11.1 beta 4 release date.
iPhone X pre-orders will start on October 27, while it will be officially launched and available around the world on November 3. Given how close those dates are, Apple has a few options. If the phone is going to ship with iOS 11.1 preinstalled, then the company will have to hurry and put the final version of it out next week.
There is a slim chance that the company will push the iOS 11.1 Beta 4 release date next week and then quickly turn around the final version of iOS 11.1 in time for the iPhone X release. However, if Apple is intent on shipping the iPhone X with iOS 11.1 preinstalled, it seems a bit more likely that it will go straight to the final version of iOS 11.1 rather than trying to squeeze in a fourth beta version, as it is running out of time.
We should also mention that iOS 11.1 includes a fix for the KRACK WPA2 Wi-Fi issue that users are facing, as the third beta patched it. That being said, Apple needs to hurry and finalize iOS 11.1 in general, just so all of its users are no longer exposed to security risks.
Another possibility is to put the iOS 11.1 Beta 4 release date next week and then release iOS 11.0.4 the same week in order to patch the KRACK vulnerability. In that scenario, Apple’s iPhone X would be launched running on iOS 11.0.4. However, the chances of this happening are thin.
Nevertheless, rest assured that you will be informed of any changes regarding the iOS 11.1 Beta 4 release date. Which do you think is more likely next week: the final version of iOS 11.1 or a fourth beta for it? Share your thoughts in the comments.
