Some of those prices may be a bit surprising depending on where you live. For example, I’m in Canada and it seems that Apple is charging a little extra on top of the US Dollar exchange rate. Some of that could likely be attributed to shipping or duties but if any of my fellow Canadians are travelling in the United States then you can save $100 by buying your new unlocked SIM-free iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus down south.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, on the surface, do not seem like a big change over last year’s models. However, Apple has made some nice upgrades in the new models that should help entice some iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners to make the upgrade. Wireless charging has been added to all of the new iPhone models which is a nice addition. Best of all, Apple chose to use the Qi wireless charging standard in their new devices which means you can use any compatible device, not just the Apple branded chargers.

The A11 chip inside the iPhone 8 is blazing fast and it’s also the same chip inside the iPhone X. This is an awesome decision from Apple. Whether it be price or design; some people may not be ready to jump to the iPhone X. It’s great to see that Apple is still offering an awesome, powerful chip in the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models. This should help buyers feel like their device has some measure of future proofing as time wears on and more and more iOS updates are pushed out.

Speaking of iOS, if you buy an unlocked SIM-free iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus then you will enjoy iOS 11 out of the box. There are some really great features in iOS 11 that help the operating system feel more powerful and friendly. And, if you do end up buying the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus, we have some iOS 11 tips and tricks you can check out while you wait for release day.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are now available for pre-order and early adopters will have the device in their hands soon. The prices are steep but many people see Apple prices as being more than worth it. Big time Apple fans will be waiting for the iPhone X so there may be a slow start to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus pre-orders. We will have to wait and see if Apple releases any numbers in the coming days or weeks. So far, I still see devices available on Apple’s online store so clearly there is enough supply to meet demand right now.

What do you think about the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus? Will you pay full price to get an unlocked SIM-free iPhone 8 or go with a discount from your carrier? Or… Are you waiting for the big release – the iPhone X?
