iPhone 7 Price Drop Deals Expected After iPhone 8 Launch

Updated on

Everyone in the tech world is focused on the release of the iPhone X – or whatever they decide to call it. This is the 10th anniversary of the original iPhone and we are expecting Apple to pull out all the stops for their big event next week. Not only will we see brand new, bezel-less design but there will be plenty of other Apple goodies to feast our eyes on including the new Apple TV, Apple Watch, and more information about Apple’s HomePod speaker. With all the excitement surrounding the iPhone X; it may be easy to forget our “old” friends: the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. However, if you’re in the market for a new smartphone and a good deal: don’t sleep on the iPhone 7.

It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that we will see iPhone 7 price drop deals in the coming weeks. In fact, many of you may have already seen some deals at retailers this past weekend during some Labor Day sales. If you have ever gone shopping for an Apple product, whether that be an iPhone, MacBook, iPad, or Apple TV; you know that these products don’t get discounted very often. So, whenever a deal comes along, it’s big news for Apple fans.

The iPhone 7 price drop deals probably won’t be enough to blow your socks off. Based on past price drops, Apple usually lowers their price by $100 for each model once a new one comes out. Of course, that price is off-contract. Some retailers or carriers may be offering extra incentives to clear out their iPhone 7 stock. For example, I live in Canada and I saw a lot of iPhone 7 price drop deals starting last week. Some retailers have slashed the 2 year contract price to $0 with only $504 being financed on the bill (keep in mind this is Canadian dollars). Other retailers are offering bonus gifts or prepaid Mastercards for buying an iPhone 7. And the iPhone X hasn’t even been officially announced yet! I imagine the iPhone 7 price drops won’t really kick in until the iPhone X is official and the iPhone 7 is old news.

However, don’t discount Apple’s current flagship just yet. The iPhone 7 is still a solid device. Of course, the device will be getting upgraded to iOS 11 so you can still enjoy the best iOS 11 features on the iPhone 7. If you’re wanting to take great photos, you definitely can’t go wrong with an iPhone 7 Plus. After the dust settles and the excitement of the new smartphone launches this fall fades away; the iPhone 7 Plus will still be regarded as one of the best smartphone cameras you can get. Even though the iPhone 7 Plus is coming up on one year, it will still be able to hang with the Galaxy Note 8, iPhone X, Google Pixel 2, and LG V30. For a good camera at a great price, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is a nice option to consider this fall.

Yes, there will be some iPhone X features that you miss out on if you opt for one of the iPhone 7 price drop deals. Wireless charging is rumored to be coming to the iPhone X. Of course, if you are an iPhone user, you have lived your entire smartphone owning life without wireless charging. I have owned Android devices with wireless charging. I find the feature to be nice but hugely overrated. You can’t really use your device while it’s charging like you can with a good old cable. Plus, wireless charging tends to be slower than wired charging. It’s great for having on your nightstand while you sleep but for a quick charge during the day; wired charging is still king.

The iPhone X will also have a face scanning feature that will be able to unlock your device much like TouchID. This will likely be a very cool feature but not something you can’t live without. Plus, we don’t know how well the feature works in the real world. Some people may discover they prefer TouchID to scanning their face.

The design of the iPhone X will be the biggest hurdle to get over if you’re stuck on deciding which device to buy. The new, bezel-less design promises to be pretty incredible. It will likely make the iPhone 7 seem a little dated by comparison. But looks aren’t everything. The iPhone 7 will still be able to do everything you need it to do and you can call the design “vintage” in order to seem trendy and cool.

Price will be the ultimate attraction. The iPhone 7 price drop deals will look very nice next to the iPhone X price tag which is expected to be starting at around $900 or more. Saving a few hundred dollars is always nice. Of course, if you need the newest, hottest thing then the iPhone 7 won’t satisfy your thirst. However, if you can look past the allure of the iPhone X and see the value in saving a good chunk of change; the iPhone 7 price drop deals are coming!
