Google Pixel 2 Launching Is A Game-Changer For iPhone X And Galaxy S8

Updated on

Google Pixel 2 XL photos have leaked and were obtained by Droid Life. The photos were leaked a little more than two weeks before Google’s great event, where the company will likely unveil the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL. Based on these photos, the Google Pixel 2 launching could bring a worth rival to the iPhone X and Galaxy S8.

The pictures obtained by Droid Life show the rear of the phone. The Google Pixel 2 XL is expected to come in two color choices: “Just Black” and “Black and White.” Both models are said to feature either a glossy and matte texture, although only the black and white model is reportedly equipped with a coral button.

Users will likely be able to choose between 64 GB of storage and 128 GB of storage. The 64 GB model will likely be cheaper at $849, while the 128 GB is expected to cost $949. Fortunately for those who can’t afford a Google Pixel 2 XL immediately, Google will offer a financing plan as well. The 64 GB Pixel 2 XL will likely be billed at  $35.38 per month, while the 128 GB will likely be available starting at $39.54 per month, over 24 months.

If the leaked photos are accurate, this year’s phone offers sharper corners compared to its predecessor. Still, a curve is present. A fingerprint scanner is included too, but it is located below the glass “window.” The window itself seems a little smaller than the one from last year’s phone, and the silvered ring that surrounds the lens cover of the camera sticks out a little.

Supposedly, Google avoids the dual-lens camera system that is present on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone X. The phone in the photos also lacks the lower body antenna band; perhaps it was tucked away in order to fit with the color of the phone.

Android Police obtained pictures its says show the front of the Google Pixel 2 XL, and they featured an AMOLED 6-inch display at a 2:1 aspect ratio made by LG. If the photos are accurate, Google will follow the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S8 with a bezel-less screen. Still, at 6 inches, the Google Pixel 2XL screen is slightly larger than those of the iPhone X and Galaxy S8, which feature a 5.8-inch OLED display. Further, Apple’s iPhone X introduced a Super Retina OLED display.

The display looks similar to the LG G6‘s and Galaxy S8’s bezel-less designs, which strive to make the screen larger without changing the whole design. Still, it is important to note that the photos suggest Google will not opt for a full bezel-less display, unlike Samsung.

If the photos are accurate, Google decided to go with a wide speaker at the top of the phone, next to the front-facing camera. Still, it is unclear whether Google did ditch the headphone jack like its competitor iPhone X or not; that is yet to be seen.

The information regarding the smaller Pixel model is still unknown. It is believed that HTC worked on its design and that it will be a more affordable option than the Google Pixel 2 XL. It is still highly speculated that the smaller Pixel 2 will stay loyal to its predecessor’s design and serve as an entry-level phone for people who don’t want a super large phone.

The Google Pixel 2 launching is believed to be a game-changer for the Apple iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S8. Based on these leaks by Droid Life and Android Police, there is no doubt about the Google Pixel 2 looking as powerful as the iPhone X and Galaxy S8. Still, the configuration details won’t be confirmed until October 4, when the Google Pixel 2 launching date and more information are expected to be revealed at the scheduled press conference.
