Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Leaked On Official Website Ahead Of Launch

Updated on

With the official announcement of the Galaxy Note 8 less than a week away, there’s not much we don’t know about Samsung’s upcoming smartphone. The device has been prone to major summer leaks. There was the recent Galaxy Note 8 marketing booklet leak. There have been several leaks about the Galaxy Note 8 camera and camera features. There was even a leak about the Galaxy Note 8 battery! That last one wouldn’t have been a big deal if it wasn’t for the Galaxy Note 7 battery fiasco last year. People wanted to make sure the Galaxy Note 8 wouldn’t burn a hole in their pants. The list of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 leaked info seems to grow by the day. Now, with just days until the launch event, the Galaxy Note 8 was leaked by Samsung themselves! What’s up with manufacturers giving up the best leaks about their own devices? First it was Apple with their HomePod leak and now it’s Samsung with a reveal of their own. Remember when we had to rely on grainy photos that looked like they were taken by someone sprinting through a production facility?

This latest Galaxy Note 8 leak is about as good as they come. Samsung jumped the gun a bit and posted an image of the Galaxy Note 8 on their American website. The link didn’t work so there wasn’t much to discover about the device but we did get a very clear look at the confirmed design. Take a look for yourself:

If you were waiting for a better look at the Galaxy Note 8 than that then you might have to wait until you can actually hold one in your hand. The image shows off the beautiful infinity display, similar to what we see on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The iconic S Pen is also shown in the image. Another interesting bit included in this leak is the model number. This is in line with what we have seen rumored coming to the United States. Of course, if Samsung posted it on their own website then you can be pretty confident in trusting it but it’s always nice when leaks line up perfectly, no matter who they’re from.

Of course, Samsung took down the listing just as fast as they posted it and the links never worked so there wasn’t a whole lot of detail to take in with this leak. However, with all of the leaks we have had this summer, there’s not much we don’t already know about the Galaxy Note 8. Shall we recap all of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 leaked features?

First, there’s the dual camera sensor setup. This looks like it’s becoming a standard feature in flagship smartphones. The iPhone 8, for example, is expected to launch with a dual camera sensor. The features that a dual camera sensor allow for is the truly exciting news. From their own marketing materials we know that Samsung will get better low-light performance out of their new Galaxy Note 8 camera. Also, the dual sensors will allow for measurements of subjects. This is likely going to be used a lot in augmented reality applications where the distance and height of certain people or objects needs to be known. Plus, since the Galaxy Note 8 will snap pictures at two slightly different angles, there will be the ability to look at single images from different perspectives. Of course, all of this is nice to see on paper but we want to see how everything works in the real world.

The Galaxy Note 8 will also launch with a pressure-sensitive display which should give some additional functionality to the S Pen. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ had pressure-sensitive displays but their functionality was limited. The Galaxy Note 8 should offer more features using pressure sensitivity. If you’re drawing with the S Pen then the pressure of your strokes could change the way your image looks and make it feel more natural like an actual drawing. Again, this is one of those features we want to see in the real world to get a good sense of what Samsung has planned.

As for specs, that beautiful, bezel-less Super AMOLED display will stretch 6.3-inches and sport a resolution of 1440 x 2960 which works out to 552 ppi. Under the hood, the Galaxy Note 8 will have a Snapdragon 835 or an Exynos 8895, depending on which region you’re in. There will also be 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage. There have been rumors of an Emperor Edition Galaxy Note 8 launching in China which features additional RAM and onboard storage but there is yet to be any confirmation of that device. It’s not a completely crazy idea, however. There is a beefed up version of the Galaxy S8 available in certain markets.

People with fancy 3.5mm headphones will be happy to know that all leaks indicated the headphone port will stick around for this year’s version of the Galaxy Note 8. It’s funny that we talk about that as a feature but, with more and more manufacturers moving away from the standard, it’s an important thing to note.

Of course, Samsung many have a few surprises up their sleeve for the reveal event. With all the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 leaked features, there likely isn’t much we don’t already know but I’m still going to be following the announcement closely to see what’s in store. Are you excited for the launch based on Samsung Galaxy Note 8 leaked features or are you going to hold off this time around and see what else is coming this fall?
