GTA V has been an extensive game but largely confined to the boundaries of San Andreas. However, recently a few modders started feeling that it is too limited, so they decided to expand it all the way into outer space. Yes, the new mod is called Grand Theft Space, and in it, players will be able to travel to space and battle aliens.
Grand Theft Space will surely be interesting
The Grand Theft Space mod is under development currently, but a trailer of it has been released, and it’s intriguing. As the trailer shows, a shuttle will take the player to space to explore the solar system.
What makes the trailer even more astounding and otherworldly is the synopsis, which reads that the “earth has been alone in this galaxy since the very moment it was formed, but far away in another galaxy, there was an intelligent life peering at the people of earth for a millennium.” Thereafter, the game talks about the NASA research team, which found the remaining parts of the alien spaceship scattered around San Andreas. The player’s mission is therefore to take out these unfriendly creatures before they reach earth.

When announcing the Grand Theft Space mod earlier this year, developer Sollaholla stated that there were some people who wanted space mode.
“I’ve seen map-editor satellites, and space ship looking vehicles, the whole 9 yards. But nobody seems to have ever made it so you can actually go in space,” developer Sollaholla wrote at the time. “So I said, ‘Screw it, I’m gonna make a space mod.”
In developing Grand Theft Space, Sollaholla is being assisted by co-creators Shaezbreizh, AHK1221, Unknown Modder, Pantyshot, JRod, SkylineGTRFreak, KAFAROS, TheMadBreaker. No official release date for the mod has been announced yet, but Sollaholla said that it will launch “when we think it’s ready.”

The space mod isn’t the only news about the Grand Theft Auto franchise going around right now. A few days ago, rumors GTA VI is under development were abuzz. It all started when one of the stunt men uploaded his resume, which lists GTA VI as a current project. However, with no official statement from the game’s developer and the unreliable nature of these sources, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.
Red Dead Redemption 2 delayed
In a separate development, Rockstar, the company that develops the Grand Theft Auto franchise, announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released next spring. In a statement, Rockstar stated that it is sorry to delay the game, but the development team needed more time to bring out the perfect product. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the game had been delayed as Rockstar wants more time to deliver the best content to consumers, and Take-Two respects that.
“It’s a choice that’s occasionally been made in the past, and it’s a choice that’s always paid off,” Zelnick said.
The delay of Red Dead Redemption 2 comes as good news for other publishers, as now they have one fewer competitor to worry about. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen sees it as “a little bit of opportunity” for his company and their publishers.
