?A record amount of capital was invested in Series B rounds in the US during 2015, a trend that was likely driven by a surge in valuations. But that figure dropped slightly in 2016 and is on track to hold steady this year.

Since the beginning of 2015, 1,408 VC investors have participated in at least one of the 990 Series B deals completed in the US, per the PitchBook Platform. Of the capital invested, about 42% has gone to IT companies, followed by healthcare (25%) and B2C (17.5%). Most of the dollars (58%) have contributed to deals that total more than $25 million, and around 35% was deployed in the $10 million to $25 million bucket.
