Final Fight’s Abigail Joining Street Fighter 5 Later This Month

Updated on

Street Fighter 5 will get a new fighter, with Abigail coming in, according to Capcom, which announced this during the Street Fighter 5 finals at Evo 2017, the world’s premier fighting game tournament. The game’s producer, Yoshinori Ono, took the stage to announce the news about Abigail joining Street Fighter 5 via new gameplay footage.

Abigail joining Street Fighter 5

In the second season of the Street Fighter 5 DLC, both the number and variety of characters have been increased. Akuma came back with a lion’s mane, the cold queen Kolin entered the heat of battle, Ed was transformed from feeble lad to bonafide boxer, and now Abigail joining Street Fighter 5 roster.

The trailer from Capcom shows Abigail as a strong character with attacks such as a running punch followed by a two-fisted slam down. Opponents will get a tough fight, as Abigail can squeeze the life bar of her opponent drastically with the grapple move, a punch combination and a move in which the opponent is nothing but a punching bag for Abigail, notes Heavy.com.

Abigail, who is among the bulky bruisers in the Mad Gear gang, is the latest character from Final Fight to come to Street Fighter. In the third version of Street Fighter, Hugo, another of member of the Made Gear gang, joined the game. Compared to Hugo, Abigail is huge, and it would not be wrong to say that he is the largest Street Fighter character to date, almost double the height of Ed, notes Polygon.

Abigail, who debuted in Final Fight in 1989, is based on King Diamond, a heavy metal musician. Abigail is the official name of King Diamond’s second album. However, those who have seen Abigail before will see how drastically he has changed from Final Fight. Further, there is something ridiculous about his character, and he is seen driving an imaginary car as part of his introduction. Players will also notice some tires strapped to his belt with chains, notes Event Hubs.

Abigail can be purchased with in-game fight money or bought as the part of the game’s second character pass. The pass will cost $29.99 and come with the other DLC characters for the second season.

What else is new in the Street Fighter 5 DLC?

Both Abigail and the new Metro City Area Stage, where the fighters face off on a rundown waterfront near the bruiser’s scrapyard, will be included in the game on July 25. Abigail and Metro City will launch alongside the Champion’s Choice outfit for Guile, the Ring of Pride and the Suzaku Castle stages, as well as nostalgia costumes for Alex, Juri and Ibuki. The costumes will be available on PlayStation 4 and Steam starting July 25 and will cost $3.99 each.

Suzaku Castle, which is making a comeback from the original Street Fighter arcade game, is one of the most popular stages in Street Fighter’s 30 year-long history. It was recreated for the Wii U fighting game Super Mash Bros when Ryu debuted in 2015 as a DLC character.
