Download iOS 11 Beta 4 Now: Here’s How To Install It

Updated on

It was anticipated that iOS 11 beta 4 would be dropping sometime this week based on Apple’s usual beta release schedule. Well, Apple didn’t make us wait long the latest beta update with the new developer beta being released early Monday. There aren’t many changes in the iOS 11 beta 4 from the beta 3 release. These beta updates are more for ironing out some last minute bugs rather than introducing new features. So, if you have already downloaded and installed the iOS 11 beta 3 then all you should notice is some improved stability with the iOS 11 beta 4.

If you haven’t downloaded an iOS 11 beta yet, this is a great time to jump in if you can’t wait for the full public release in September. Of course, I have to point out that this is a beta build and there is the potential for bugs and app crashes. If you are the kind of person who absolutely needs a certain app to do business then it might be best to stick with iOS 10 until the full iOS 11 release. With that said, iOS 11 beta 3 was very stable as far as beta builds go and iOS 11 beta 4 should only be an improvement on that. If you don’t mind the occasional app error or you have a different daily driver device then getting a taste of iOS 11 might be worth it.

If you are ready to jump in, here’s how to install the iOS 11 beta 4 release without actually having a developer account. Of course, it would be wise at this point to back up your device in case you run into any issues. Once you have backed up, follow these steps:

  1. Using the Safari browser on your compatible iOS device, go to this link.
  2. If your browser doesn’t automatically redirect you, select the link that says “iOS 11 (beta 4).”
  3. You will be prompted to tap “Install” 3 times. After that, you will have to reboot your device.
  4. After rebooting go to “Settings” then tap “General” and then select “Software Update.” You should see iOS 11 developer beta OTA as a download option. After that, you just download and install like any other iOS update. The option for the iOS 11 beta 4 download may take awhile to show up. Give it a few minutes. You may need to reboot one more time to force the option to show up.

That’s all there is to it! Now you can get some of the new iOS 11 features working on your device before the official public release. This should allow you to experience some of the new features like control center customization, screen recording, improved Apple Maps functionality, and more. While iOS 11 doesn’t look a lot different from iOS 10, the new features working behind the scenes make iOS a much more robust operating system. If you’re not ready to jump into iOS 11 just yet, no worries! As mentioned, the full release should be coming sometime in September prior to the launch of the newest iPhone models.
