First DLC For Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Is Live Now

Updated on

The first DLC pack for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is out now for the Nintendo Switch and Wii, offering a host of new features to players. While some of the features were expected, there are some surprising fireworks adding more depth to the title. Nintendo will release several informative articles to tell players more about the features, notes Express.

What’s new in the first DLC for Breath of the Wild?

In the Master Trails DLC, gamers will be able to play the game in hard mode, in which enemies will be more powerful and the floating treasure would be guarded by monsters. When players choose the hard mode, enemies that appear in front will be ranked according to their strength. One can also come across even higher-ranking enemies than they would not be able to see in the normal play. In addition, enemies will slowly recover their health, and therefore, to cross the level, a player will need to defeat them more quickly.

Along with hard mode, the Master Trials DLC comes with a series of new costumes, such as the Tingle Outfit and Phantom Armor, and a Travel Medallion, which players can use to create a temporary quick travel point. The system will also monitor the path made around Hyrule.

One of the noted additions to the DLC pack is Trial of the Sword, which has about 45 room challenges, in which players need to pass series of hurdles. Those who have played the Cave of Ordeals in the previous titles might find it familiar, notes GameSpot. Gamers will only be given those weapons that are acquired during the challenge. However, once the player completes the Trial of the Sword, he/she will get the Master Sword in its fully powered-up state.

“Link starts without any armour or weapons, and if he can defeat all of the enemies in the room, he can proceed to the next area,” reads the official description.

Master Trials DLC takes up much more space on Wii

Even before the release of the added content, there were reports that the DLC pack for the Breath of the Wild would take up large amounts of space in both the Wii U and Switch. Though on the Switch, the Master Trials DLC occupies only 456 MB of space, on the Wii U, it will capture about 3.7 GB. It is unclear why the DLC is taking up so much space on the older console. It seems that is the way forward because even players who purchased the game for the older console were made to download a 3GB update before playing the game.

Going forward, there will be one more DLC for Breath of the Wild titled the Champions’ Ballad. The second DLC will come during the holiday season, bringing a new story chapter related to four champions from Link’s era. Nintendo offered a glimpse of the Champions’ Ballad DLC at E3 2017. Both expansions — Master Trials and Champions’ Ballad — are available as part of a season pass which comes with a price tag of $20.
