Leaked OnePlus 5 Poster Confirms June 15 Release Date

Updated on

One more leaked image reaffirms that the much-anticipated OnePlus 5 will be launched on June 15. A leaked picture of an invitation poster shows a date and the DxO name. OnePlus recently partnered with DxO, which is helping it improve the OnePlus 5’s camera.

OnePlus 3T to be phased out

The leaked image also includes a Hello 5 caption, which was released by the company almost a week ago when it confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will be released this summer. The poster also reveals that the phone will arrive in Shenzhen, China, notes Android Headlines. A similar poster appeared yesterday also.

Hinting at the imminent launch of the OnePlus 5, the Chinese company said in a recent blog post that only a few OnePlus 3T units are available now, and it will eventually be phased out to make space for the next handset. The company has yet to mention how long the OnePlus 3T will be available globally before it is finally phased out, although it did provide a hint in one country.

According to IndiaToday, OnePlus India said, “The OnePlus 3T (both 64GB and 128GB variants) will continue to be available for purchase in India until later this year.”

With only days or weeks left before the launch, the Chinese smartphone maker opened a referral program. Under the program, a customer can share a referral link with friends, who will then receive a $20 discount on the purchase of any accessory if they buy a OnePlus smartphone from the official store. Those who shared their unique referral links will get 100 referral points.

Will the OnePlus 5 ditch headphone jack?

Following several leaked pictures of the handset, many were concerned about the absence of the 3.5mm port like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. But at the same time, there were reports that the company would not drop the port completely. Now a recent tweet from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei sort of confirms the existence of the headphone port.

In response to a question about “where the headphone jack went,” Pie said, “Why did the headphone jack cross the road?”

By Pei’s tweet, it is quite evident that the headphone jack will be repositioned on the top of the phone, notes Express. Last year, after Apple pioneered the removal of the headphone jack from the iPhone, companies such as Motorola and HTC also ditched it.

No compromise on quality

Earlier, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau stated that the OnePlus 5 would be the thinnest in the series. In a Weibo post, Lau stated that when the OnePlus 3 was launched, people were talking about how slim it was, and now, the same will be said of their next handset. However, according to Lau, in making the OnePlus 5 sleeker, the company has not compromised on its functionality.

The OnePlus 5 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Further, the phone will have 6GB of RAM and come in 64GB and 128GB options. The device will have a 5.5-inch full HD resolution display, same as the displays on the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

Further, there is talk that the OnePlus 5 will be pricier than its predecessors. So far, the Chinese company has kept its offerings budget-friendly, and there does not seem to be any need to deviate from the trend. However, the final word will be reserved for the day the phone is unveiled.
