OnePlus 5 Ad Revealed The Phone Ahead Of Launch

Updated on

The OnePlus 5 is coming to India on June 22. The company decided on Sunday not to build the suspense any further and aired OnePlus 5 ad showing off the phone, during the final game for the ICC Champions Trophy. Since India was playing in the finals, OnePlus rightly picked the event to catch the most attention.

OnePlus 5 ad reveals the full phone

In the beginning of the OnePlus 5 ad, OnePlus India brand ambassador and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is shown unboxing a phone (possibly the OnePlus 5). Then at the end, the ad features an official render of the device. Not many details were shared, but the looks and features seem in line with earlier reports and developments.

Apparently, the phone will run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and have 8GB of RAM. The view on the screen resolution is divided, but the Chinese and Indian markets may be expecting nothing less than 1080p, notes SlashGear. The phone comes equipped with a 3.5 mm headset jack and a fingerprint scanner in the home button. The OnePlus 5 is equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and will come in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants and 64GB and 128GB storage options.

One of the major highlights of the OnePlus 5 has been its camera. The Chinese company entered into an agreement with DxO to improve the phone’s camera. Pete Lau, founder and CEO of OnePlus, has also teased the dual-lens capabilities of the OnePlus 5 camera. The company claims that the camera will have DSLR-like quality.

Other details about the phone

OnePlus also teased the refresh to OxygenOS a few days ago, tweeting, “Software designed with style and refinement.”

In the tweet, OnePlus inserted an image showing new user interface themes for the next-gen phone. Another tweet showed the blue light filter feature that will be helpful in adjusting the temperature of the phone’s display to the user’s preference. The OnePlus 5 will also come with a slider which can be used to adjust the display accordingly.

OnePlus also talked about the Universal Flash Storage UFS that will be used in the OnePlus 5.

A recent message on the Chinese social network Weibo read, “Now the flagship machine UFS have become a selling point, too much fun.”

Before the OnePlus 5, every OnePlus phone came with eMMC storage or an embedded Multimedia Card, which is not as sophisticated as UFS technology, claims the company. UFS 2.1 storage will power the smartphone to read and write simultaneously at faster speeds.

The OnePlus 5 is one of the most-anticipated phones, and it has garnered over 300,000 registrations on the Chinese site JD.com even before launch. In China, registration for the phone started on June 14, and the last date is June 22.

It also seems like the company has stopped shipping the OnePlus 3T in the United States and Europe to make way for the OnePlus 5. There is no “Buy now” tab on the Europe and U.S. website. The Chinese company has already announced that the OnePlus 3T will soon be out of production.
