iPhone 8 Renders Reveal What The Anniversary Device Could Look Like

Updated on

It’s entirely possible that new leaks have revealed what the iPhone 8 could look like. Digitally designed images of the highly anticipated smartphone have found their way onto Twitter, thanks to the well-known designer, and leakster Benjamin Geskin.

iPhone 8 Render Leaks

As for what the renders reveal, that’s a handset which for the most part, supports many wide-spread rumors. One of which is that it will feature an edge-to-edge display, with the only remaining bezel being at the top. A place for which Apple will set the front-facing camera.

Another rumor of note, which looks to be supported, relates to the iPhone 8 not having a Home Button. This render clearly shows that it is gone, it could mean that Apple has managed to embed Touch ID into the display, as rumors suggest.

CAD Drawings

While Geskin, has been sharing beautiful looking renders, he has also taken to posting computer-assisted design drawings too. The image above shows the front and back of what he thinks is the iPhone 8.

As for what this CAD drawing reveals, there’s clearly a vertically aligned dual-camera setup, with the flash nestled in between the sensors. However, on the front of the device, there’s a surprising feature missing, and that’s the much talked about Selfie-camera.

Returning to its rear, the round shaped ring, according to Geskin is where the Apple Logo will be placed. In a recent tweet, he made it clear, that he didn’t think it was where the Touch ID would be stamped.

Insider Sources

Over the weekend, we reported that Geskin had received details from a source inside of Apple. These details suggested the iPhone 8’s announcement date, and a later on sale date. It was this information, which apparently, spurred Geskin, and others such as Slashleaks to begin revealing what the handset will look like.

However, while these renders, mockups, and CAD designs may be somewhat revealing, they are not official. Apple is yet to reveal anything, although its WWDC developers conference does begin next week. So, there is the chance that we may finally at least hear some confirmation of the handset’s existence.

Returning to the insider sources, Geskin, managed to get his hands on an internal Apple memo. A document which was meant specifically for the Apple Care team. Apparently, this memo informed members that all leave had been canceled. And additionally, no holiday’s would be granted between September 17 and November 4.

This lead, to the tweeting of the iPhone 8 announcement happening on Sunday, September 17, and going on sale on September 25.

The Note itself, read, as follows:

“As you know, there are new product announcements and launches in September,’ the memo says.
‘We will be imposing Black Out Days in all AppleCare programs for Advisors and Leaders.
‘The upcoming Black Out Days will be September 17 through November 4’.
It ends ‘absences are unacceptable’.”

The above-leaked memo was shared by Geskin, just a couple of day’s after a video claimed to show what the iPhone 8 would look like. The 10-second video, which you can see below, seems to show a dummy device with many of the features being rumored.

What Does The Video Reveal?

To start with, it was Benjamin Geskin himself, who uploaded the short video to YouTube. On the matter, he said it shows a dummy device/display model of the iPhone 8 possibly from China.

Does this reveal more than iPhone 8 renders? To be clear, it looks to stick to schematics and rumors we’ve seen previously. And that means, it sticks to the expected features, which include an edge-to-edge display, and its quite thin, and sleek. Additionally, maybe Apple has managed to solve for the iPhone 8, what Samsung could not for the Galaxy S8.

As the absence of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor from the rear and front does seem to indicate it’s embedded under the display. That being said, some rumors have suggested that if Apple could not solve the embedding problem. It could do something as drastic, as the removal of Touch ID altogether.

Moving to the rear of the device, we can see, what could be the housing for a dual-lens-3D camera. Again it’s a heavily rumored feature, which along with an OLED display could be the headline feature.

Latest Rumor

So, what do these iPhone 8 renders, dummy’s, and the latest rumors tell us about Apple’s next device?

We already know/assume, that because this year marks the 10th-anniversarry of the iconic handset line, it will be different. And by that we don’t mean just in design, it will offer Apple fans, and those looking to switch, some real incentive to do so. Along with the images, a new rumor has emerged, apparently via one of Apple’s own partners. This leak/rumor, reveals one reason why the iPhone 8 will be different, and that’s shape.

It will not be the same as previous handsets, according to China’s Economic Daily News, the chip maker TSMC has revealed the iPhone 8’s display will be longer with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9. This will be the same as is found on the LG G6 and the Galaxy S8. However, the reason behind this move is to increase the size of the handset display. But, also keep it narrow enough to enable it to be used in one hand.
