ASUS Leaves Out Robots, Shows Ultra Slim Laptops At Computex 2017

Updated on

Asus Zenbo was nowhere to be seen during the Computex press conference this year. Instead, the company decided to display its super thin laptops, the ZenBook Flip S and the ZenBook Pro UX550, according to TechCrunch. Asus’ cute humanoid robot was a big hit at Computex last year.

ZenBook Flip S and ZenBook Pro specs

Both laptops are quite slim and lightweight, with Asus claiming that the ZenBook Flip S is “the world’s thinnest convertible laptop.” The laptop weighs just 1.1 kg and is only 10.9 mm thick. The ZenBook Flip S has a 13.3-inch 4K touchscreen display and can be rotated 360 degrees. The slim book runs on Intel’s Core i7- 7500U processor and comes with 16GB of RAM and a 1TBSSD. The laptop, which is slimmer than Apple’s 12-inch MacBook, supports an active stylus and is priced at around $1,099, but the timing of its availability is still not known.

The ZenBook Pro, on the other hand, is designed for those who want a powerful but lightweight laptop. Asus seems to have made it to combat Apple’s MacBook Pro. This laptop, which is priced at around $1,299, is fitted with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX1050 Ti graphics card, seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor, 1TB of SSD storage, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. The ZenBook Pro comes with a 15.6-inch UHD display, and its battery, according to the company, is strong enough to last 14 hours on a single charge.

Asus also showed off the ZenBook 3 Deluxe, a Windows 10 device; the company claims that it is the world’s most prestigious laptop with a 14-inch ultra-narrow bezel display. The ZenBook 3 Deluxe, which is priced at around $1,199, is 12.9 mm thick and weighs 1.1 kg. The laptop’s other specs include an Intel Core i7 processor, Thunderbolt ports, two USB Type–C ports and 1TB of SSD storage.

Asus’ unique color scheme for its new laptops is eye-catching. The company launched this color design scheme a year ago, and now it seems to have refined it for the Deluxe model and new Flip S. The Flip S has a color accent on the keyboard and the top lid.

Asus also showcases a super-cool laptop and router

The company also launched the VivoBook Pro 15, which has a 15.6-inch 4K UHD display with wide view technology. Like the ZenBook 3 Deluxe, the VivoBook also runs on Windows 10 and a seventh-generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor and packs 16GB of DDR4 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics.

VivoBook has a dual-fan cooling system with a dual-copper thermal module and heat pipes to help it remain cool during gaming sessions or heavy operation. It comes with Harman-Kardon certified audio, twin speakers and a fingerprint sensor for one-touch login via Windows Hello.

Apart from computers, the company also launched its new Blue Cave router at Computex 2017. The router got its name from the blue hole in the middle, similar to Vortex. Blue Cave does not have antennas, which gives it a more subtle look. It also has integrated internal antennas similar to the Netgear Orbi or Google Wifi, giving it a smoother look, notes NDTV. Blue Cave also supports IFTTT, allowing users to create automated tasks for an IFTTT-equipped device or service.
