While Samsung fans are all set for the Galaxy S8 announcement later this month, Apple followers must sit and wait. Why? Because the Cupertino-based outfit remains tight-lipped about the 10th anniversary iPhone 8’s existence. Furthermore, there are more than 6-months to a possible launch. All of which means, while S8 owners get all of those next-gen goodies iPhone lovers must wait! However, if you’re not patient, cast your eyes over the latest work of designer Benjamin Geskin. His Jet Black and Jet White iPhone designs have Apple fans drooling.

If you’re wondering who Geskin is? He’s one of the world’s premier smartphone mockup/concept designers. Many of his previous works have according to folklore inspired Apple. However, for 2017 Gaskin has teamed up with fan site iDropNews to show off his Jet Black and Jet White iPhone 8 designs.

While some say Gaskin has access to insider knowledge at Apple, it a good bet that these designs won’t be what’s released. Instead, it’s best to think of them as a round about facsimile of the final handset Apple may deliver. Having said that, one much-rumored feature incorporated into these designs is the continuous piece of glass design. An idea which has been for many years, an obsession for Apple’s Jony Ive, 2017 may be the year he gets his way.

What to Expect?

As you would expect, the rumor mill is rife with different spec stories about Apple’s next device. While some differ from what has become the mainstream consensus, the majority expect Apple to deliver a serious next-gen contender. So, while Samsung provides its next flagship early giving us a feel for the future Apple will be watching closely.

In a similar vein to the Korean tech giant, Apple (according to rumor) will produce an all-screen iPhone 8 with the home button removed. Where it will be moved to, or what will replace it is still up for scrutiny. However, it’s possible that it could be embedded into the display, which would be truly revolutionary. Additionally, the same fate could be in store for Touch-ID. But, some rumors have dismissed this change suggesting the iPhone 9 is the handset for that.

One rumor which we expect to come to fruition for this years device relates to the side bezels. They are expected to narrow, and the sides of the new OLED screen will curve downward toward the rear of the handset.

Additionally, in recent days reports from sites like Nikkei Asian Review have corroborated rumors of a 5.8-inch curved OLED display. The insider sources who provide such corroborations have indicated that the iPhone 8 will be of the truly edge-to-edge variety. Meaning, that Apple will finally produce a handset that will boast a next-gen display along with other new technologies. Such as IP68 water-dust-proofing, wireless charging, improved camera sensors, an A11 Fusion chip. Plus, increased storage, and possibly more new features that we and others have not imagined.
