Xbox One Controllers Coming In New Colors

Updated on

Microsoft is getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit with two new colors of Xbox One controllers. Of course, red is pretty much a given for the holiday, and the other color is actually a two-tone combination of green and orange. The Xbox team announced the two new wireless controllers on its Twitter feed on Tuesday.

The red Xbox One controller is also two-tone, with the controller itself being a more muted red and the buttons and trim being sort of a glossy magenta. As you can see, the Xbox button retains its usual silver color, but with the addition of red on the X.

The green and orange Xbox One controller is mostly army or olive green, but there’s a bit of bright orange underneath the two thumb sticks. The Xbox One button is mostly silver again. Like the red Xbox One controller, the buttons have a glossy look to them, but unlike the red one, the glossy buttons match the color of the rest of the controller, relegating the orange just to the bottom of the thumb sticks.

More Xbox One controller colors = more fun?

Last year, Microsoft revealed the Shadow designs for its Xbox One controllers. They are the Dusk Shadow and Copper Shadow controllers, and they are quite a bit fancier than the new ones revealed this week, as they have a design printed on them rather than just being solid colors. Microsoft also sells Special Edition Covert Forces and Armed Forces controllers for the Xbox One. The company typically prices the colorful variants of its controllers higher than the standard black ones, and such is the case with the newest ones.

This year’s new Xbox One controllers are priced at $64.99 and available through the Microsoft store. The red controller is already up for sale, but the green and orange one won’t be available until Jan. 31 when gamers can find it for sale at select retailers. Gamers who don’t want to shop online can pick up the red Xbox One controller at GameStop or the green and orange one (when it’s released) at Walmart.
