This iPhone 8 Concept Has A Unique Place For Rear Camera

Updated on

Consistent bombardment of leaks, rumors, and speculations has been building up the hype about the iPhone 8. Concept designers have also been fueling excitement by coming up with beautiful (but sometimes absurd) concepts imagining what Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone would look like. The upcoming iPhone is expected to bring radical design changes as Apple looks to boost the slowing iPhone sales.

The concept is inspired by Galaxy ‘edge’ devices

Few people know what the final iPhone 8 design would be. But a concept video created by Iskander Utebayev and posted on YouTube by ConceptsiPhone imagines the upcoming iPhone with the rumored wraparound display. Utebayev seeks inspiration from Samsung’s Galaxy “edge” devices that have curved displays.

What makes this concept interesting is that instead of boasting outrageous features, it is more grounded in reality. It has the aesthetics of the iPhone 7, except for a few changes. The display curves around the edges. The 10th anniversary iPhone is rumored to feature an edge-to-edge display with minimal bezels.

Utebayev’s concept has a unique placement for the rear camera. The camera sits right in the middle of the iconic Apple logo. However, the flash is clearly visible at the top of the device. Apple is unlikely to incorporate the camera in its logo, but the concept serves as an interesting inspiration. The designer does not provide any internal hardware details, which is much better than setting an unrealistic expectation bar.

iPhone 8 as big as the iPhone 7 Plus

In another concept, Moe Slah imagines an iPhone 8 with 5.8-inch OLED display. But it is the same size as the current iPhone 7 Plus. The home button and fingerprint sensor will be embedded in the display, allowing Apple to expand the screen without increasing the body size. The top bezel has also shrunk in size.

Since the phone is rumored to have a wraparound display, Apple may ditch the physical volume buttons in favor of virtual ones. Slah’s concept features physical buttons on the sides. The concept also has new notifications, a new home screen look, and a redesigned Control Center.

iPhone 8 to have wireless charging, improved Siri

Apple fans and investors have huge expectations from the iPhone 8. Besides the wraparound display, the device is expected to have long-distance wireless charging. Apple is reportedly working with Energous to incorporate wireless charging technology in the upcoming iPhone. Energous’ WattUp technology can charge devices from a distance of up to 18 feet.

Apple’s voice assistant Siri is also said to see major improvements with the iPhone 8. Google Assistant, Samsung’s upcoming Bixby, and Amazon’s Alexa are said to be more advanced than Siri. Supply chain sources familiar with the matter told DigiTimes that Apple would use technology from its acquisition of machine learning startup Turi to Siri Siri an AI makeover.
