Google Pixel XL and Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge are among the best Android phones launched this year. So, when the Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus released its latest flagship OnePlus 3T, experts quickly started comparing it to the Pixel and Galaxy S7 Edge. The OnePlus 3T costs only half as much as the other two. But when it comes to speed, it puts both the Pixel XL and Galaxy S7 Edge to shame.
OnePlus 3T emerges clear winner in speed test
OnePlus has risen in popularity in the last few years by offering smartphones with high-end specs at low- to mid-range prices. Folks at popular YouTube channel PhoneBuff conducted a speed test of the three handsets. It involved opening a series of apps including VidTrim Pro, a video editing software. For the video editing part, all the devices were required to process the same video file.

OnePlus 3T was able to finish the test in just 1 minute and 30 seconds. Google Pixel XL was close behind at 1 minute and 36 seconds. The comparatively slower Galaxy S7 Edge took 1 minute and 55 seconds. At the end of the first lap, Pixel was still in the race. But OnePlus 3T with its 6GB RAM emerged a clear winner during the second lap of the test.
The OnePlus device was able to breeze through the second lap in 1 minute and 53 seconds. Google Pixel XL was more than a minute behind, taking 2 minutes and 57 seconds. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge completed the second lap in 3 minutes and 53 seconds.
It’s worth pointing out that the Galaxy S7 Edge was released almost eight months ago, while the other two arrived only recently. Both the Pixel XL and OnePlus 3T are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, while the S7 Edge features the Snapdragon 820 chipset. But the OnePlus smartphone’s biggest advantage is its insane 6GB RAM. The other two devices come with only 4GB RAM.
Speed isn’t everything
There is more to a device than just speed. The OnePlus 3T may have outperformed the Pixel XL and Galaxy S7 Edge in speed tests, but users consider a variety of factors before buying a device. Google’s Pixel has an incredibly good camera. Some users may also be drawn to the S7 Edge’s curve display. Unlike the OnePlus phone, the Galaxy S7 Edge is waterproof and dustproof.
OnePlus 3T features a 3400mAh battery, a 5.5-inch display, 64GB of built-in storage, 16MP main camera, 16MP front snapper, dual-SIM support, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with OxygenOS skin on top. Google Pixel comes with the latest Android Nougat.
