But some are no happy a progressive group states:

Wall Street accountability group pledges grassroots resistance to Steven Mnuchin, Trump’s Treasury pick

Not one Democrat should support Trump’s Wall Street billionaire pick for Treasury Secretary, ex-Goldman Sachs banker and foreclosure king Steven Mnuchin

Activist group pledges hundreds of thousands of petition signatures and thousands of phone calls to the Senate, with Mnuchin as a centerpiece of effort to block Trump’s cabinet of corporate cronyism and hate

The following statement can be attributed to Kurt Walters, campaign director at Demand Progress’s Rootstrikers project:

Choosing Wall Street billionaire and notorious foreclosure king Steven Mnuchin to run the Treasury Department makes it crystal clear: Trump’s promises to make the economy work for ordinary Americans were nothing but a lie to grab power for himself and his cronies.

People across the country are already furious at the level of power Wall Street wields over government. Seeing phony populist Donald Trump elevate an ex-Goldman Sachs banker to oversee the economy will only add to the growing sense of betrayal for voters who trusted Trump to deliver on his message of changing Washington.

Demand Progress and our Rootstrikers project will engage our 2 million activists to make it clear to members of the Senate that a vote for Steven Mnuchin is a vote in favor of government working to enrich Wall Street at the expense of working Americans.

Bloomberg estimates Mnuchin may have made more than $200 million off of his company OneWest Bank as it became known as a “foreclosure machine” for foreclosing on more than 36,000 homes.

As Democrats work to re-establish their party’s credibility as a voice for working people, not one Senate Democrat should vote to confirm Wall Street billionaire Steven Mnuchin for Treasury Secretary.
