Important Reasons You Are Unsuccessful

Unsuccessful?

Success is a precious commodity which everyone wants but a very few achieve. This is not to disappoint you but a truth very hard to ignore.

On the positive side the truth is you achieve success every single day in the small little tasks you complete.

The problem with the human psyche is that it tends to relate success with all the big achievements and ignores the little ones we achieve in our day to day life.

But success also requires doing the right thing in required quantity at the right time.

Being unsuccessful at achieving certain goals doesn’t denote failure. Failure is when you quit.

Being unsuccessful simply means there is a lack of resonance between ‘the right thing, the right time and the right quantity’.

There are basically two causes why you are lacking success.

  1. Lack of detailed objective:

Often times we confuse goals and objectives. Though both are similar in nature but there is a subtle difference between them.

Goals and objectives denotes moving forward but they accomplish their aim in very different ways.

Goal is the big picture which you want to achieve and objective is the little tactics, little planned actions of relatively short term in nature you perform to transform that goal into a reality.

For a warrior the objective is the specific plan of attack often performed in a series to win the battle.

Having a goal in mind is not enough to succeed. You need to have a battle plan ready to achieve that goal.

Do you think that Gandhi succeeded only because he had a divine goal of ending the discrimination based on skin color?

No.

He had a very detailed objective, a well developed specific plan of action to rise against the discrimination which not only was very successful but changed the course of history.

We are prone to make goals to create our dream life but we put little effort in listing the objectives which leads to the accomplishment of those goals.

“A goal devoid of objective is a sure way to become unsuccessful”

People make goals without having any clue of how to achieve that. Generally they plan to make, bend and execute tactics on the go as and when required.

I have done this many times and so did you.

From my experience I can say that we confuse not having specific objectives with being flexible. We tend to think that we will be flexible enough to adapt to the situation. We have been told from the very early age that adapting to circumstances, being flexible is an important step to survival.

But our system forgot to tell us that flexibility has nothing to do with objectivity.

Surviving and being successful are totally different where the latter has a positive connotation to it.

“We make the mistake of confusing not having specific objectives with being flexible.”

Lack of objective leads to three specific problems:

* Goals become secondary while you keep yourself busy with trying many different ways to achieve it.

* Need more time to achieve a goal as you become distracted with too many options or lack of it.

* Chances of failure increase as you gradually become exhausted spreading your energy everywhere and lose the motivation due to lack of any accomplishment to show for your goals.

Hence, next time you make any goal make sure to have clear objective about it.

Tip: Don’t keep it on your mind. Write down your goals and accompanying objectives on paper. It will keep you focused.

  1. Disorganized Execution:

You can have divine goals and the perfect strategy to achieve that but if you falter at this last step then you will only face disappointment.

Remember morning shows the day, but at the end of the day destination is the place where you really want to be.

And you can’t reach your destination if you don’t execute your plans in an organized way.

In a perfect world, where you have a single goal and a perfect way of executing your objectives, disorganized execution is a concept of imagination. But in our real world the story is completely different.

As a human being you have to work within the grinds of daily life. And as such you are tasked with the execution of multiple goals and fulfillment of various responsibilities. Executing each one of them can break you and exhaustion is a high probability.

Disorganization can sometimes lead to multiple parallel efforts to realise the same goals resulting in waste of energy and time. Both your time and motivation are limited in amount and it is undesirable to spend it cheaply on the same purpose. It defeats the whole aim of efficient execution of your plans.

The only way to overcome this problem is  to prioritize things, organizing them in order of priority and staying away from distractions.

You can’t prioritize your tasks if you don’t write it down. Many leaders and successful persons have this habit of writing down their tasks of the day. In this way you can see in real what you have to work on everyday.

There are many free tools and app to manage your tasks like trello or todist.

You can never prioritize things which are intangible in your mind. Writing it down makes it real. You can then set the priority and complete your tasks according to its importance. It will keep you away from distraction saving your effort, time and energy.

Unsuccessful? In the End:

Failure denotes you lack something to be successful and you need to rise up, find out the lack and overcome it. Success is ambiguous but being unsuccessful is just a way of universe giving you one more chance to be successful.

If you can become aware of these two basic causes and take action to overcome those then you dramatically increase your chances of accomplishing your goals and be the winner that you wish to be
