Dorsey Explains Why Tesla CEO Twitter Account Is His Favorite

Updated on

CEO Jack Dorsey says that Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is a platform that offers tremendous ability for businesses and government leaders to “humanize.” And this makes Elon Musk’s (CEO of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX (ticker pending public flights to mars) and chairman of SolarCity Corp (NASDAQ:SCTY)) account one of his favorites, according to Business Insider.

Musk makes good use of Twitter

Dorsey, who was present at the Dmexco digital marketing trade show in Cologne, Germany, spoke about why he thinks Musk uses Twitter the best way. Dorsey said that Musk gets into a conversation and loves all that he does. He is a scientist and geeks out on the platform and make it a part of his conversations, notes BI.

“He’s constantly on Twitter, constantly talking about what they are doing – and how he’s feeling about it as well. He’s very open and using it to correct press and if people aren’t focused on the right things. I think he’s a really good model of how to use it well,” said Dorsey.

Dorsey took note of an incident in which Blue Origin announced its latest rocket project, to which Musk responded that SpaceX did that long ago. Blue Origin is Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ space company.

Dorsey said, “There are interesting dynamics that occur organically, naturally and it humanizes the entire organization.”

What sets Twitter apart?

Dorsey also spoke about what makes Twitter different from other social media platforms and what all improvements need to be made to it. Dorsey said that Twitter is focus on live events, and this sets it apart from other social networks. Dorsey made this comment just a day after the launch of a new app for Apple TV, Xbox One and Amazon Fire TV, notes BI.

“There’s a real opportunity for us to continue to strengthen our spirit of showing what’s happening and that news use case,” the CEO said.

Dorsey said the platform is a good source of news for most Twitter users.

Speaking of making improvements to the platform, Dorsey said they are working hard to make the platform easy for users so that they can understand how and why to use the platform. However, the CEO shared no specific details on what his company is doing in this regard.

Also Dorsey said the “safety” of Twitter’s users from online harassment is now a top priority. Dorsey admitted that in the past, the company has not be able to effectively use its engineering, product, and design resources to address the issue, but now, it is becoming “a lot more aggressive.”
