The Samsung Gear S3 is expected to be announced later this week at a press conference at IFA. The Korean firm hinted at it on the invite for the event. Until now, we had not seen the smartwatch, so we did not know what it looked like. Now SamMobile has published a few pictures of what the new smartwatch is going to be like, reports Android Headlines.
What the leaked images tell about the Samsung Gear S3
We already know that Samsung announced the Gear S2 last year at IFA, so it makes sense that the Korean company will announce the successor at this year’s IFA as well. We did not know much about the upcoming smartwatch before, but at least now, we have a few pictures to help us envision the Gear S3. The pictures published by SamMobile actually came from a couple of screen protectors for the display of the Gear S3.
From the pictures, it can be concluded that the smartwatch will be available with a silver and gold band and a gold face. We cannot tell from the pictures if the watch’s bezel will still rotate. Since the Gear S2’s bezel did rotate, the Gear S3’s bezel will probably rotate as well to help in navigating the OS, notes Android Headlines.

The Samsung Gear S3 will likely run on the Tizen OS again as it does not appear to be Android Wear. Lately, the Korean smartphone maker has been using Tizen for its wearable products. The crown of the watch is sitting at the 3 o’clock spot, a little different from where other smartwatches have been placing it lately. The Huawei Watch and Moto 360 have their crown closer to about the 2 o’clock spot, according to Android Headlines.
To compete with Apple Watch 2
The gadget will likely be declared during the press day of the IFA trade show, which is scheduled for Aug. 31. What makes this assumption even more believable is a vague post by Samsung Mobile on its official Twitter account.
The account tweeted, “Stay tuned for a timely innovation. August 31. Berlin.”
With the tweet, a GIF photo that displays a timepiece moving clockwise and counterclockwise was posted as well. The words with the image read, “Talk About 3. Gear. 31 August 2016.” The news was very exciting for Samsung fans. It is anticipated that the event will be streamed live on the company’s official website as well.
Samsung could launch the device sometime in October to give competition to the upcoming Apple Watch 2. The Gear S3 may feature a classic circular design that comes with a fluted bezel and a metal band (it had a plastic strap before). Reportedly, the watch could come in three variants so that users can choose the hardware that fits their needs and lifestyle. The variants include a Samsung Gear S3 Explorer, Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic, and all of them are expected to have a rotating bezel base. The device will have a bigger form than the current 1.2-inch AMOLED panel, states Vine Report.
