No Man’s Sky Cheats, Hacks, Tricks, Tips

Updated on

No Man’s Sky is a game set in a universe where the player has an almost unlimited ability to trade and collect anything and travel anywhere. In fact, the game is so big that it is said that the amount of time it would take to traverse it and its 18 quintillion planets would be more than 584 billion real-time years. So here are some cheats, hacks, tricks, and tips to help you on your way.

How to upgrade weapons and not deplete resources

Resources are everything in No Man’s Sky, and as such, you will want to keep as much of them as possible. So to upgrade your weapons without using resources, you must collect blueprints, which can be considered to be like money. When you have accumulated enough, you will be able to upgrade your weapons.

How you go about collecting blueprints is up to you, but there are two options: You can either be aggressive and rob week aliens or you can be nice to others and convince them to give you some… the choice is yours.

How to earn money

There are a few ways you can earn some cash in No Man’s Sky. The first may seem like the simplest, but beware as irritating a Sentinel (the Space Police) can get you into all sorts of trouble. However, if you were to creep up to one of them and have a look around for resources they have dropped, just quickly pick them up and claim them for yourself. The resources can then be sold for extra cash.

The next way to get some loot is to offer your services to the military races, which is a quick way to earn money but a dangerous one too. Alternatively, you could become a space traveling Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Carribean) and rob from the rich and give to yourself.

Follow the Atlas Questline

If you have an overwhelming desire to get to the center of the universe, one way to do this without using exploits and cheats is to follow the Atlas Questline. This is the fastest and cheapest way of reaching your goal.

Upgrade your Hyperdrive

With the standard hyperdrive, it is possible to travel 100 light-years with a single fuel cell, but if you upgrade it, you can travel 300 light-years instead. This can be done by purchasing the Warp Reactor V1 hyperdrive upgrade, and there are a few different ways you can get your hands on it.

The first way to get one is to talk to aliens at space stations, and when they talk to you, you will be given a multiple choice of responses to pick from. You should choose the one that is the riskiest, as the result may only be that the alien conducts some experiments on you. So let it do what it wants to you, and then it will give you a V1 Warp Reactor when complete.

This next method will take longer, but if you don’t mind doing some scavenging, you should look in and around the wreckage of pods and ships. If you’re lucky, you will come across useful pieces of technology that may include a Warp Reactor V1. Tip: Fly close to the surface of a planet and be on the lookout for black smoke and blinking blue lights from technology.

Do not sell Atlas Stones

I’m not at liberty to say why, but do not for any reason sell the Atlas stones that you have, and if you need more, they can be found on Atlas stations spread throughout the universe.

Rarest and most essential cargo

Some crafty No Man’s Sky players have discovered a way to duplicate items in the game. This includes some of the rarest and important cargo required to complete the game. Before I go any further, this is not like farming Bypass chips; this is a real exploit (Cheat), which will be patched out of the game at some point soon.

So if you want to cheat, here is what you have to do to get a leg up on everyone else!

When you die in your ship, No Man’s Sky lets you claim back your spaceship’s inventory via your grave marker. However, if you reload via a previous save, it is possible to get your inventory back and access the grave too, which doubles your inventory and is considered to be a way of taking all the fun out of the game.

Here is a video in which the people at Eurogamer explain the process.

While an excellent way to get to the center of the universe quickly by cheating, this will ultimately ruin the game for many players, so I hope Hello Games is working on a patch for this right now!
