iPhone 7 Plus Prototype: A Look At The New Device

Updated on

There have been a lot of rumors about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 and 7 Plus – many of them contradict one another. There were rumors that Apple would launch two 5.5-inch devices – an iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro with a dual camera and Smart Connector. Then noted tipster Evan Blass revealed that there will be no Pro version; the dual camera and Smart Connector will be included in the iPhone 7 Plus.

Will Apple bring a blue iPhone 7 Plus?

Meanwhile, a Chinese wireless headphone company called BeSound built an iPhone 7 Plus prototype – probably using the leaked schematics that have been circulating over the web. It was BeSound’s way of promoting its headphones. The company then teamed up with popular YouTuber Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy to show off its creation.

Apple is rumored to launch the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in either blue or black color. There have been leaks supporting both color options. A few days ago, Apple’s Chinese wireless partner China Unicom teased the iPhone 7 Plus in blue color. BeSound’s prototype shown in the Unbox Therapy video is in blue color. You can see all the major hardware changes coming to the Plus variant.

iPhone 7 Plus to have dual camera, Smart Connector

There is a dual-camera on the back, which is expected to let you capture both wide-angle and pixel-dense photos at once. You can also see a Smart Connector on the bottom rear, similar to that on the iPad Pro, and twin external speakers. The device is 7.14mm to 7.18mm thick. Both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have entered mass production ahead of the official unveiling next month. The new iPhones are expected to be available for pre-order on Sept.09 before hitting the store shelves on Sept.16.

Separately, DigiTimes has learned from its sources that the upcoming iPhones will feature 3GB RAM. However, the publication did not clarify whether both devices will pack 3GB RAM or only the Plus version will get it. Other expected features include 32GB of built-in storage, A10 processor, and repositioned antenna bands.
