Apple’s iPhones are ritually picked up by Goldgenie, which modifies them to suit the tastes of high-profile people. It recently announced plans for the upcoming iPhones, the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro, and in the process, it seems the company has given away crucial details regarding the designs and specs that Apple could reveal officially next month.
Should we believe Goldgenie?
Should we really believe the details that Goldgenie has revealed? We may, as in a press release the company said, “It has been allocated a limited number of devices on the day Apple make [sic] the iPhone 7 available.”
Also it has revealed a few images of the upcoming devices, but a confirmation is still awaited from Goldgenie whether they are accurate or not, according to Gizmodo.
From the images, it can be gathered that the design is very similar to that of the iPhone 6s, but the ugly antenna bands have been removed. Also the images show there isn’t any 3.5mm headphone jack, which backs up longtime rumors. Another major change is that the cameras in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices are much larger. Rumors suggest dual cameras on the rear of the phones, which can be seen in the images as well, the report notes.
Some doubt about specs
When it comes to the specs, Gizmodo has some doubt as to how accurate Goldgenie’s claims are because the specs of the 7 Plus and the regular 7 are listed as being the same on the site. Also Apple would not make the mistake of revealing the innards to a third party that is prone to leaking them before the launch of the devices.
Goldgenie has listed the devices as being waterproof, and this is really great, provided it is true. The site also lists that the devices have USB 3.0 support, which presumably means that the devices have a USB 3.0 Lightning port rather than abandoning the Lightning standard entirely, the report notes.
$6,500 to reserve an iPhone 7
Overall, the images form Goldgenie are in line with the recent leaks, and the changes by Goldgenie to its iPhone 7 are entirely cosmetic. The company has wrapped the phones in 24-carat gold or rose gold and decorated them using crystals and platinum. People interested in reserving a phone can do so by paying $6,500 down and a second similar payment on delivery. That’s quite a markup from the retail price (possibly $600) at which Apple could offer the iPhone 7 device.
“Also available are the iPhone 7 Plus and Pro editions customized in luxurious 24k Gold, Rose Gold, Platinum, Swarovski crystal and Diamonds. Secured with only a 50% deposit,” says Goldgenie.
Other rumors for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus include Apple’s plan to do away with 16GB as base storage, and starting storage could be 32GB. The second rumor is the company will offer the devices at $100 less, and if it is true, it could help attract more customers. Also it’s been rumored that the iPhone 7 Plus will come with 256GB of storage.
