Galaxy Note 7 Has The World’s Best Display Ever

Updated on

The verdict is out! “The Galaxy Note 7 is the most innovative and high-performance smartphone display that we have ever tested,” said DisplayMate President Raymond Soneira on Tuesday. DisplayMate is well-known for its stringent testing methodology. If you are looking to buy a smartphone with the best display quality, you can’t ignore what DisplayMate says. The Galaxy Note 7 is set to go on sale on August 19.

Note 7 has the brightest smartphone display

The Note 7 sports a 5.7-inch, 2,560×1,440 pixel QHD Super AMOLED display. Its screen is curved around the corners of both sides. The quality of display determines image and graphics appearance, text readability, and the ability to work well in favorable as well as not-so-favorable sunlight. Soneira says the Note 7’s pixel density of 518 ppi makes it the highest resolution and pixel density screen available worldwide.

Samsung uses sub-pixel rendering for the Note 7 display to make it appear sharper than it is. The Korean company has also designed the RGB pixels to have different sizes in order to maximize the output from every single pixel. It results in a much sharper display. Raymond Soneira added that the Note 7 has the brightest smartphone display with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits. That – coupled with the lowest screen reflectance of just 4.6% – makes it easy to use even in the harshest sunlight.

Galaxy Note 7 offers four color modes

Most smartphones have a single color mode. But the Galaxy Note 7 comes with four different color modes that users can control. If you love watching moving in 4K, the Note 7 has the AMOLED Cinema Screen mode to display high-end 4K video content. There is also an HDR mode to display 4K HDR footage, thanks to a built-in video processor. The Note 7 also has an AMOLED Photo Screen mode with 100% Adobe Gamut for photographers. It will allow photographers to edit their photos and videos right on the phablet. And then there is the Basic Screen Mode that offers 100% sRGB color gamut.

The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to give a tough competition to Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The phablet received 200,000 pre-orders in South Korea in just two days, shattering all the previous records.
