GTA 6 Rumors: Vintage Theme And A Move Abroad

Updated on

Grand Theft Auto is one of the gaming industry‘s all-time best-selling franchises, and with another installment, GTA 6, on the horizon, you can forgive its fans for wanting more information even though its developer Rockstar has not confirmed the game yet. So with the lack of an official word on the matter, fans have turned to the rumor mill and leaks to satisfy their cravings.

GTA 6 latest news

If you have followed the GTA games over the years, then you will know that they have always been set in the present. However, according to rumors which have surfaced on the internet about GTA 6, this could be about to change, as they suggest a step back in time to a bygone era, which could shake things up a little. As to why Rockstar has decided to go down this route, it’s is anyone’s guess! However, there is little detail available to determine what is being called a “vintage theme” actually means.

As for what players of the franchise want, it seems as though this news has struck a chord with a few of them, and they have taken to social media to discuss what they expect from the game. As you can imagine, there is no consensus on what they want to see. Some want retro cars from the game’s past to be included, while others would prefer a much deeper retro element from this installment with 1930’s or 1970’s themes and more on offer than just the cars from those time periods.

Chicago or abroad

If the idea of setting GTA 6 in the past does not appeal to you, don’t be concerned as it’s only a rumor. However, if your idea of shaking the franchise up a little would be to take it to foreign climates, you should carry on reading as there is speculation about this too!

To start with, let’s talk fact. We know that the GTA franchise has already exhausted the majority of locations in the U.S. as Las Vegas, New York, San Francisco, Miami and Los Angeles have all been done! This leaves Chicago, but it looks as though Rockstar wants to move the game outside of the U.S. for its sixth installment.

Where could this be?

London: The U.K.’s capital would be the easiest option for Rockstar as it has taken the game there in the past with Grand Theft Auto: London, 1969. However, the fact that it has already been there may not strike a chord with players who are craving something new and fresh.

Tokyo: As the biggest city in the world, the Japanese capital has a certain appeal that is not matched by any other location that I can imagine. As for why the game could/should be set there, Tokyo has a very recognizable urban setting and offer the history of crime, which has often been a major feature of past GTA releases. However, this is seen as being far too easy for Rockstar, and this could discourage it from taking Grand Theft Auto VI. to Japan.

Final thoughts

As the above are rumors, let’s return to reality for a moment, and when we look at what we know, that amounts to almost nothing, considering that there has been no official word from Rockstar about a release date, where the game is to be set, or what theme it will have.

As for all of the above, take it with a grain of salt and keep your fingers crossed that Rockstar will put it out sooner rather than later!
