Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Teaser Hints At These New Features

Updated on

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 is almost here, and the Korean company is trying to build up hype ahead of the official unveiling on August 2 in New York at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The event will also be simultaneously held in London and Rio de Janeiro. The device is said to hit the store shelves the same day of launch, at least in a few markets.

Note 7 to have improved front-facing camera?

Ahead of the official announcement, Samsung Mobile Korea has released a TV commercial on YouTube. The ad teases several new features. First up, there is a fingerprint hitting the screen. Of course, the Note 7 was expected to sport fingerprint sensor, but the teaser hints at some new technology. Maybe the Note 7 will embed the fingerprint sensor in the display rather on the home button. The upcoming phablet is also said to feature iris scanner.

Though the ad does not show you the whole device, Samsung has tried to highlight how its rivals struggle to take quality pictures in low-light conditions. There is a shot of a girl trying to take a selfie in a darkened bedroom. It hints at improvements in the front-facing camera, probably a flash. The commercial also teases the IP68 waterproofing capability. The Korean company plunges a landline phone into water, indicating that its next-gen phablet could survive better underwater.

Galaxy Note 7 to be waterproof

Recent reports suggest that the Galaxy Note 7 can survive underwater up to a depth of 5 feet for 30 minutes. Samsung also teases a row of numbers from 0 to 5 lighting up, followed by a question mark. It’s a clear indication that the next-gen phablet will not be called Galaxy Note 6. Instead, it will be named Note 7 because the Korean company doesn’t want the name of its new phablet to be a number behind the Galaxy S7.

The teaser ends with a confirmation that the device will launch in August 2016. The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to feature a 12-megapixel main camera, 3,600mAh battery, and a 5.8-inch QHD dual-edge display.
