Fix Blank Notifications In Prisma With This Handy Guide

The Prisma photo editing app has shot to prominence since its release a few weeks ago, but users have reported some annoying bugs in the Android version of the app.

Prisma originally launched on iOS, but the Android version is now gaining popularity. As the number of users grows, so are bug reports. The artificial intelligence photo editing app apparently leaves an empty notification on your phone after you use the app.

Empty Prisma notification frustrates users

This empty notification is apparently impossible to swipe away, but thankfully there is an easy way to fix the problem. Weirdly enough most versions of Android do not display which app the notification comes from, but users say that it is Prisma.

The first question is why the app would produce an empty notification in the first place. It is thought that it appears after Prisma tries to process images in the background.

Despite the fact that most of the artificial intelligence processing is handled by the app’s servers, there are several functions that run in the background on Android. One example is when a photo is still being processed but the user takes the app off screen.

It also appears that taking Prisma off screen while it is processing also causes a bug in the “creating artwork” process. While this may be frustrating for users, there is a solution.

How to fix the bug?

If your phone is running Android Marshmallow (6.0) or Lollipop (5.0/5.1), following these steps. Make a long press on the notification, which should take you to the Prisma app notifications screen on Samsung phones. On handsets made by other brands you need to press the information icon to reach that screen.

On the app notifications screen, press the information icon next to Prisma, before selecting “force stop” to make the app close.

If your phone is running Android 7.0 Nougat, long press the notification and select “More Settings.” Tap Prisma in the menu that appears, and select “Force Stop” in the “App Info” menu.

By all accounts these issues will not be completely fixed until an updated version of the app is released. Another point to remember is that eliminating the empty notification from the menu will not stop it from appearing the next time you use the app.
