Leaked OnePlus 3 Pictures Confirm Metal Body

Updated on

Leaked photos of the new OnePlus 3 suggest that the rumors of a new metal body are true.

Leaks confirm previous assumptions

A couple of new pictures of the smartphone to be released by the Chinese company, called the OnePlus 3, show a slick looking piece of equipment  with a shiny new metal body.

The official launch of the new phone is tomorrow, but ahead of this, these photographs enable us to garner some new information, or more accurately, confirm some of the rumors that have been circulating.

The leaks come from Steve Hemmerstoffer, better known under his online handle, @OnLeaks.

The slim, elegant body metal frame is complemented by tapered edges. The oval shaped home button, will have a fingerprint analysis capabilities and the back is all a charcoal color in the images (a move away from the traditional sandstone coloring we are used to from the company), with antenna lines and a camera positioned at the top of the phone but in the center rather than off to one side. The pictures also seem to confirm the 2.5D front glass.

Expected OnePlus 3 specifications

It is expected that the phone will have a 5.5 inch, HD screen. The processor will be the Snapdragon 820, which will be available with either 4GM or 6GB of RAM and a choice of 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of storage space. There will be front and back cameras, with 8 and 16 megapixels respectively.

The smartphone will contain a Type-C USB port, 3,450mAh battery with Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 and be run on an Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

OnePlus is known for providing budget smartphones and while there has been no official word on the price of the latest device it is expected to cost less than $400 which will make it an enticing product for all those on a budget.

Everything to become official tomorrow

The official launch is tomorrow and those interested in the phone will be pleased to hear that OnePlus have discarded their old ‘invite’ system which added unnecessary layers of complexity to buying the previous versions of the phone.

The launch will be a VR event at 12.30 EST and the phone will be on general sales from 15.00 EST via the OnePlus website.
