BlackBerry Ltd Speeds Up Momentum in Asia-Pacific

Updated on

BlackBerry is penetrating deeper in the Asia-Pacific region. The Canadian firm is partnering with companies to bring new services to Indonesia, Singapore and India, the company says in a blog post.

Expanding partnerships in India

South East Asia and India are among the fastest adopters of mobile technology worldwide. In the first quarter of 2016, the smartphone market in India grew 23%. In the blog post, BlackBerry said it is pleased to partner with two of the Asia Pacific (APAC) region’s biggest mobile carriers and India’s premier IT services and solutions company.

India is witnessing a growing need for businesses to protect valuable intellectual property and information with EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management) solutions. The blog post said BlackBerry has partnered with HCL Infosystems to bring its enterprise software and services to more consumers in India. This partnership will give the company a bigger footprint by leveraging HCL Infosystems’ extensive pan-India network of specialized enterprise distribution partners.

Customers will have access not only to HCL Infosystems’ IT deployment support and integration capabilities to assist them in migrating seamlessly or consolidating their EMM investments but also to sales support. This partnership represents the latest milestone in BlackBerry’s global enterprise partner program, which, according to Richard McLeod, vice president of Global Channels at BlackBerry, “aims to give customers wider access to our leading suite of enterprise solutions with world-class support, helping organizations advance their mobility strategies.”

Entering partnerships in Indonesia and Singapore

People carry multiple devices or SIM cards in Indonesia to separate their business and personal lives, but XL Axiata’s new NOVI service means users can now bid farewell to that complex set up. BlackBerry is the technology partner behind NOVI, which lets XL customers use up to three different phone numbers on a single SIM card and device. Apart from their personal number, people can use two other virtual numbers for separate tasks such as calling taxis or selling goods online.

The services work on both smartphone and feature phones and prepaid and post-paid cellular service plans. A customized NOVI app is available on Android, but soon the app is coming to BlackBerry World and Apple’s App Store. NOVI is powered by the BlackBerry Virtual SIM Platform, which allows dynamic management of mobile numbers. Customer care, messaging, billing, provisioning and all standard operator processes are supported for NOVI customers.

BlackBerry is also partnering with M1 to bundle BES12 Cloud EMM with renewed or new monthly service plans. M1 is Singapore’s most vibrant and dynamic communications company. MI is the first to offer BES12 with BlackBerry’s Enhanced SIM-Based Licensing (ESBL), which makes the deployment and use of EMM easier for companies.
