With just days to go in the first half of the year, 1,418 VC investors have participated in at least one of the 1,575 venture financings raised by U.S. startups in 2016, according to the PitchBook Platform. The median size on those deals is about $6 million, a noticeable increase from the same figure during 1H 2015 ($4 million). Software companies represent the lion’s share of deals completed (47%), followed by commercial services (9%) and pharma & biotech (7%). Of the 1,418 firms active during this year’s first six months, 62 have completed 10 deals or more.
