GTA 6 Rumor: Osama Bin Laden To Appear In Game

Updated on

It may be years before “Grand Theft Auto 6” (GTA 6) arrives on video gaming platforms, but there are already plenty of rumors surrounding the game.

GTA 6 looks set to continue with the same format as previous versions of the game, which allow the player to inhabit huge maps and do pretty much what they want, according to Christian Daily. The aim of the game is to complete missions on behalf of various gangs, but most of the fun is arguably found in going on violent rampages around the huge cities.

Success of GTA Online could delay release of GTA 6

Among the rumored inclusions are an appearance from famed terrorist Osama bin Laden as well as a map which includes all of the maps from previous versions of the game. However it may take longer for the game to be released than previously thought, regardless of the city in which it is set.

According to previous reports GTA 6 may be delayed due to the success of GTA Online. Developers Rockstar Games released the free online game to drive interest in the franchise, but it has turned into a huge money spinner.

Although GTA Online is free, it allows in-game purchases. With 8 million players per week, there is huge potential for the game to rake in cash. In fact Rockstar has reportedly gained over $500 million in micro-transactions from GTA Online.

As a result the release of GTA 6 may be delayed while Rockstar concentrates in keeping people interested in GTA Online.

International missions could include Osama bin Laden

However rumors are still swirling about the next edition of the GTA series, with GTA 6 apparently going to include different cities in Bonus International Missions with targets such as Osama bin Laden.

The rumor about including all of the previous maps stems from a statement made by former Rockstar North President Leslie Benzies in 2012. “Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas, and in that context reimagining Vice City would be very interesting,” Benzies told Digital Trends back then.

Now a Reddit thread has revealed a map that shows all of the previous maps incorporated into GTA 6. This follows what Benzies said years ago.

Lack of official information encourages  rumors

While some sources claim that Rockstar has diverted its attention to GTA Online, others maintain that the company is developing GTA 6. The fan site Grandtheftautogta6.net, claims that it has been informed that the game will be inspired by real-life events.

Other rumors included the possibility that GTA 6 would be set in Tokyo. However other rumors claim that the developers have narrowed the choice down to two cities: Las Vegas and Bogota.

Perhaps the most important factor to consider is the ongoing legal battle between Rockstar and former president Benzies. After leaving the company the former president filed a $150 million lawsuit against Rockstar.

As a result of the legal battle it seems likely that GTA 6 will be developed in a different way to its predecessors. Benzies is holding out for shares in the company that he says are legally his, but in the meantime it seems that he will restrict how Rockstar can make use of his hard work in developing the GTA series.

Fans must hope that legal troubles don’t affect the development and future release of the sixth installment of the hugely popular franchise.
