To me The Masters is the best of the major tournaments in golf. There is something to the familiarity you feel when it’s turned on; if you’ve been watching it long enough, as I have (forced on me at a young age by my father, you instantly know what hole the players on the TV are trying to tackle. It makes you feel as though you are playing along with them.
History and this year’s big stories
Unlike the other three majors in golf, (The British Open, The U.S. Open, PGA Championship) The Masters is played at the same course each year in Georgia and has been since played at Augusta National since it was first contested in 1934.
This storied course has seen countless momentous events throughout its 83 year history. It sees excitement, yes excitement in golf, nearly every year. Last year was perhaps the exception to this when young Jordan Spieth set the 36-hole scoring record and tied the 72-hole scoring record in a wire-to-wire victory for his first major.
Spieth will look to join Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo and Jack Nicklaus as the only back-to-back winners. But in order to do so he will need to beat 88 other men in the four day event, the 89 golfer field is the smallest since 2002.
Jack Nicklaus, , the all-time Green Jacket winner with six wins, will hit the ceremonial first tee shot of the tournament, playing with partner Gary Player. The Golden Bear stepped into the shoes of Arnold Palmer who was forced to pull out of his duties owing to shoulder surgery that he had performed last month.
Rory McIlroy needs a victory at Augusta National to become the sixth player to complete the career Grand Slam but is not in optimal form being the only top five player in the world who has failed to win a tournament this year.
Jason Day is the current favorite to win the tournament with current betting odds giving him 13/2 to don the Green Jacket come Sunday.
How to live stream The Masters?
Firstly, if you have CBS available to you you’re set but if you’re at work or out and about without access to a television you still have options. Options both legal and, well, let’s go with grey.
CBS offers a number of options to watch through a series of live links at Watch Live on CBSSports.com .
This includes full coverage of featured groups full round, 9 hours of coverage that doesn’t move from those three holes, a stream on the driving range and a final stream that focuses on holes 15 and 16.
For those unfamiliar with Amen Corner, Amen corner is made up of the 11th (White Dogwood), 12th (Golden Bell), and 13th (Azalea) the only water holes at Augusta national.

Frankly, this isn’t enough for me and I wish to watch the whole tournament. While I’m lucky enough to have a CBS affiliate on my Guatemalan cable package, that’s not going to help me until Saturday and Sunday and even then coverage will be limited.
