LG G5 SE Debuts On Company’s Website With Snapdragon 652

Updated on

After months of rumors, LG G5 SE is now debuted in Russia! The watered-down version of the Korean company’s flagship G5 has appeared on LG’s Russian website. The product description page reveals everything about the device that looks identical to the standard LG G5. Previously, there were rumors that G5 SE would be smaller than the flagship model, following the footsteps of the iPhone SE. But the Korean company had trademarked ‘LG G5 SE’ more than a month before the iPhone SE arrived.

It’s almost identical to G5 in terms of design

The SE model is a slightly cheaper and underpowered version of G5, probably aimed at emerging markets. LG seems to have quietly launched the mid-range smartphone in Russia. The G5 SE features the same 5.3-inch Quad HD screen with 554 ppi pixel density. It runs Android Marshmallow right out of the box, with LG’s custom UI on top. It has the same rear-mounted home button/fingerprint sensor, and a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port at the bottom edge.

Like the flagship G5, the LG G5 SE boasts of a 16MP/8MP wide angle dual camera system on the rear and an 8MP front snapper. According to LG’s Russian website, SE model has the same modular design. It means you can swap out the modules like the DAC Hi-Fi unit and CAM Plus. Though the SE measures slightly thinner at 7.3mm compared to 7.7mm for G5, both phones have the same height and width. They are available in same metallic colors.

LG G5 SE lacks LTE support

LG has tried to make it a mid-range device by packing it with lower RAM and a mid-range processor. The G5 SE features Snapdragon 652 processor and 3GB RAM, compared to Snapdragon 820 and 4GB RAM in LG G5. Also, the SE version lacks LTE support. Earlier this month, a British retailer had leaked an LG-made official Quick Cover case that was compatible with both the G5 and G5 SE.

LG G5 SE has passed through Chinese telecom regulator TENAA, suggesting that the device will also be sold in China. AN LG executive recently told Android Authority that G5 will be sold in developing countries like China and Latin America.
