iOS 9.1 Jailbreak Update: Here’s What’s New

Updated on

Pangu has stabilized its iOS 9.1 jailbreak, which is great news for fans who have either already jailbroken their iPhone or iPad or those who have been waiting for a more stable update before jailbreaking. The update will work in both cases.

iOS 9.1 jailbreak stabilized

The official changelog from Pangu states that the iOS 9.1 jailbreak update version 1.3.1 for Windows and 1.1.1 for Mac OS X make it “more stable.” Additionally, the update should fix the rebooting problems many of those who have already jailbroken their iOS devices using the previous version have been experiencing.

Other than stability and fixing the problem that caused devices to enter a reboot loop, there doesn’t appear to be much new with the iOS 9.1 jailbreak update. Pangu also said the update will make the device boot faster more often, according to iDownloadBlog.

It should be noted that the jailbreak only works on iOS 9 or 9.1 devices that have a 64-bit processor, which means it won’t work on older iOS devices. Of course if you’re experienced enough to jailbreak your device, this probably isn’t a problem.

Also note that Pangu’s current jailbreak tool is still for iOS 9.1, which means that those who have upgraded to iOS 9.2 won’t be able to use it. The Pangu team said recently that they weren’t planning a public release of their iOS 9.2 jailbreak any time soon, which means they might not release the next tool until after iOS 9.3 comes out later this month.s

This is by no means an exhaustive explanation about how to jailbreak your device, but here are the basics. Those who have already jailbroken their device just need to go into Cydia to download the update to the Pangu 9.0.x Untether. This makes it extremely easy because it isn’t necessary to jailbreak the device again.

Of course those who haven’t jailbroken their device yet will have to go through the entire process by downloading the newest version of Pangu’s tool for either Windows or Mac on Cydia. There are many risks associated with jailbreaking a device that you should be aware of before you undertake the task. The process itself should only be done by someone who is experienced in jailbreaking. Also jailbroken devices are not protected from hackers.

Apple TV jailbreak coming soon

Jailbreak fans also have something else to look forward too. The Pangu team tweeted last week that they’re preparing to release one for the newest model of the Apple TV. This will be the first time a jailbreak for the desktop box will be released.
