Unsubstantiated reports are saying that a disgruntled employees has barricaded himself into a London restaurant located in Leicester Square.

While there has been no confirmation of the event from police, it’s believed that a disgruntled employee of Bella Italia is presently holed-up inside with an unknown number of hostages.

The Twitter messages bringing this news clearly show photos of the London Police Department cordoning off the area.

One witness trapped in one of the restaurants near Leicester Square tweeted: “First night in London and were locked in a restaurant and not allowed to leave because a man has a woman held hostage with a knife, sound.”

WE WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE THIS STORY AS MORE INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE:

Again it should be stressed that all reports, including scanners picking up police radio chatter, suggest that it’s a man with a knife who once worked there, not a terrorist as others quickly reported.

A Met Police spokesman said officers are responding to “a man with a knife who is holding a woman against her will in a restaurant in Irving Street”.

Heart Radio’s James Robinson has shared this image of the police cordon between Leicester Square and Charing Cross Road.
