Samsung has sent out invites for its February 21 Unpacked event in Barcelona, where it is widely expected to unveil the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge along with a Gear VR headset. Ahead of the official unveiling, both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have passed the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification. The FCC documents spotted by 9to5Google list several bands, connectivity options, and certifications like NFC, Bluetooth, and dual-band WiFi.

Galaxy S7 to go on sale on March 11

The FCC documents do not reveal much about the handsets, except their model numbers. The 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge will come with SM-G935A model number, while the 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 has SM-G930A model number. The last letter in the model numbers may change depending on carriers and regions. Recent rumors suggest that both the devices will hit the US stores on March 11.

The US version of Samsung’s flagship phones are said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. Units sold in other regions will run Samsung’s in-house Exynos 8890 processor. Numerous leaks and rumors have revealed that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will have the same aluminum design as Galaxy S6. The devices will borrow microSD card slot and waterproof capabilities from Galaxy S5.

Galaxy S7 offers two days of battery life

Both variants are expected to have 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage options. According to VentureBeat, the S7 will take 2 hours to fully charge using wireless charging, while the S7 Edge will take 2.2 hours. Samsung is expected to increase the battery size to 3,000mAh in Galaxy S7 and 3,600mAh in S7 Edge. Separately, Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin has revealed that the new phones will offer two days of battery life on a single charge.

Posting screenshots from the dual-SIM version of Galaxy S7, Murtazin said the phone’s battery lasts for 17 hours while playing video with screen brightness set at 100%. He added that it lasted for two days of continuous use with LTE always on and display brightness at 75%. Besides increasing the battery size, Samsung may optimize the software and use more efficient processors to achieve this.
