Dow Jones drops nearly 300 points as market opens, oil hits 12-year low [CHARTS]

On Wednesday the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed nearly 300 points just after US markets opened. All three major US market indices were down at least 1.5%, as oil prices fell to below $28 a barrel, the lowest level in 12 years. IBM dropped more than 6% after a disappointing earnings report, contributing to the Dow’s early morning woes.
