Famed billionaire investor Warren Buffett is a big deal almost anywhere he goes, but in his home state of Nebraska he is an icon and people flock to hear him speak when he makes an appearance.
Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton understands this very well, so she has made arrangements to stump in Nebraska with the octogenarian Buffett.
In an alert to the media, a Clinton campaign staffer noted the upcoming visit by Clinton was an effort to organize grassroots support in advance of Nebraska’s Democratic caucuses. The staffer also said that the presidential candidate will discuss tax reform with Buffett. The Oracle of Omaha has called for a increase in come taxes on the nation’s wealthiest on a number of occasions.

Keep in mind that Iowa traditionally the nation’s first presidential primary on February 1st, and Nebraska comes just under a month later on March 5th.
Back in February of 2008, Democrats in Nebraska held their first caucuses to try and attract some visits from presidential candidates, and it worked. The Democratic nomination battle raged on for months in the 2008 election cycle, and Clinton and Barack Obama’s campaigns both showed up to fight for Nebraska’s delegates.
Obama visited Omaha and his wife, Michelle, traveled to Lincoln before the 2008 caucuses. Chelsea Clinton, Hillary’s daughter, also made a campaign stop in Lincoln.
Of interest, soon-to-be-President Obama dominated Nebraska’s caucuses by 2 to 1 and went on to win the nomination and defeat Republican candidate John McCain in November 2008.
Nebraska Democrats have their fingers crossed that things work out equally well this election cycle. They are hoping the nomination is not settled by early March, so Clinton and the other Democrats come back to Nebraska again.
The two other Democratic candidates for president are Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley.
