A month after its introduction, Tag Heuer’s Android Wear powered smartwatch is forcing the Swiss watchmaker to ramp up demand.

2,000 smartwatches each week

A month after unveiling its first Android Wear-powered smartwatch, Tag Heuer has boosted production to keep up with demand.

According to a report by Bloomberg, the Swiss watchmaker has upped its production from 1,200 units to 2,000 units. Additionally, Tag Heuer has suspended sales of the Connected Watch until at least May or June in order to give priority to brick-and-mortar stores that sell Tag Heuer’s watches including the Connected Watch. Given its price tag of $1,500 is stands to reason that customers would want to try it on before committing to a purchase.

A spokesperson confirmed both reports to PCMag on Monday while also suggesting that U.S. consumers register contact information on Tag Heuer’s website in order for the company to keep potential customers updated on availability information.

The smartwatch that doesn’t look the part

The Apple Watch and others like Pebble Time look like smartwatches, they just do. However, the Tag Heurer Connected Watch produced through a partnership with both Intel and Google, looks like a regular watch from the company’s Carrera collection. It has a chronograph dial with three-hand deal as well as a GMT deal with hands, index, counters, date window and minute track are all offered on any of the three digital faces that Tag Heuer is offering.

The watch features an Intel Atom Processor with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and audio streaming. The “smart” aspects of the watch include calories burned, steps taken, miles run shown in three different circles at 12, 6, and 9 o’clock. When one is depressed it opens in fullscreen and interacts with the application that is bundled in the included app. Syncing can be done with any phone running Android 4.3 or higher and iOS 8.2 or above.

The smartwatch also comes with 4GB of memory, a microphone to communicate via Google voice control and an all-day battery. The Connected Watch is also water-resistant with a IP67 rating.

The watch is being sold with a rubber band and is available in pearl white, deep blue and black.

Tag Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver told Bloomberg that, due to the success of its first smartwatch, the company “will develop a collection made out of different varieties, executions and materials.”

Additionally, gold and diamond variations will be made available in late 2016 or early 2017.
