As Apple continues its preparations for the release of the iPhone 7, many Apple fans are wondering whether or not to upgrade to the next generation smartphone. It is still very early days for the development of the iPhone 7, as both the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have only just been released. But it could still be a valid strategy for many Apple fans to wait for the release of the iPhone 7, so what can we actually expect from this handset?

iPhone 6s vs iPhone 7: Home Button

The first interesting possible aspect of the iPhone 7 is that it may feature no Home button. This has been a commonly suggested trait of future iPhone releases for some time, but it may finally come to fruition with the release of the iPhone 7. Designer Hasan Kaymak put together a concept video suggesting just this recently, and should Apple choose to offer this then a very pleasing edge-to-edge display would be possible.

Seth Klarman Describes His Approach In Rare Harvard Interview

Seth KlarmanIn a rare interview with Harvard Business School that was published online earlier this month, (it has since been taken down) value investor Seth Klarman spoke at length about his investment process, philosophy and the changes value investors have had to overcome during the past decade. Klarman’s hedge fund, the Boston-based Baupost has one of Read More

Waterproof

It is also being commonly suggested that Apple will ensure that the iPhone 7 is significantly waterproof. It is thought that this will offer both convenience to the everyday user of the smartphone, and also possibly offer more health-related functionality. The Apple Watch is to be rebooted in 2016, with the second iteration of the smartwatch, and Apple would love to offer more collaboration between the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch than was possible this year.

Wireless charging

Another possible new element of the iPhone series that could be introduced with the iPhone 7 would be wireless charging. Fans of Samsung devices, not to mention Sony and LG, will be slightly derisive about the fact that Apple is only just introducing this technology. But patent applications  from the US Patent and Trademark Office that have come to light recently suggest that Apple may be willing to incorporate wireless charging into its next generation smartphones.

Apple’s patent for ‘Inductive Power Transfer Using Acoustic or Haptic Devices’ suggests that we will certainly see wireless charging in iPhones sooner rather than later, and iPhone 7 could be a likely candidate for this.

Wraparound screen / curved displays

In September, Apple filed a patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for what it calls ‘sidewall displays’. Leaked images that accompany the application indicate that the iPhone series could incorporate a screen that stretches right around the device. Apple has already offered an explanation for this as part of the application, pointing out that many mobile devices already feature a similar design.

This could conceivably come to fruition with the iPhone 7, and possibly an even more likely prospect is the inclusion of a curved display. Samsung must be commended for having pioneered this technology in its Galaxy range of products, And it has come to define the smartphone market to a certain extent, despite the enduring popularity of the iPhone series. Many analysts have linked Apple with producing a curved screen variant of the iPhone at some point, and it could be that the iPhone 7 is the first such device.

Intel inside?

Numerous reports have suggested that the next generation Apple iPhones could be powered by Intel chips. Reports from the chip manufacturer suggest that Intel already has a team of 1,000 workers attempting to ensure that Qualcomm no longer remains dominant in the iPhone range. Whether or not this will come to fruition remains to be seen, but certainly there is still some haggling from both companies to take place. But what we can say is that the iPhone 7 should benefit from an improved chipset.

OLED screen

Another new rumor about the iPhone 7 is that it will include an OLED screen. The South Korean tech website ET News states that the company is currently looking to source the screens from rival Samsung, which could be a very interesting development. Samsung’s OLED technology has generally been considered to be a massive selling point for the series, so it would be a great contract for the Korean manufacturer to have, but also something that could negatively impact on its own Galaxy range.

Apple Car

One of the more obscure rumours related to the iPhone 7 is that Apple could provide a preview of the forthcoming Apple Car, and possibly even enable users to purchase one through a specialist app built into the smartphone. Apple CEO Tim Cook has mentioned the Apple Car previously, and reports related to this that suggest that Apple is negotiating to begin testing such a product indicate that an Apple Car could be a prospect in the future.

Delayimg an iPhone purchase in order to benefit from this may seem rather pointless considering that the Apple Car will not emerge until possibly the end of the decade. Recent reports suggest that a 2019 timeframe is likely, but those who are particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of an Apple electric car will be interested to note that the iPhone 7 will tap into any residual hype.

Sapphire screen

Apple has been linked with sapphire glass in its display for quite some time, and it could be that the iPhone 7 will indeed introduce this material for the first time. Investment bank Piper Jaffray has particularly predicted this innovation, and the fact that Apple has already bought up large quantities of Sapphire glass do suggest that the corporation intends to include it in the iPhone range at some point.

Performance

Finally, the iPhone 7 is likely to include a faster processor, more RAM than the iPhone 6s, and possibly a significantly improve dual-camera. Although spec improvements are also anticipated.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the iPhone 7 is likely to be a significant departure from the existing iPhone 6s. This will provide purchasers of Apple products with a dilemma, as the next generation smartphone will seemingly be a significant step forward over the already available handset. It seems reasonable to assert for consumers that have already locked themselves into a two-year deal that it is worth waiting for the iPhone 7. Having said that, it should also be considered that a price increase is certainly possible in the next iPhone generation.

  1. The only way your iPhone 4 is still working is because you have it with iOS 6 or prior. After a time your apps stop working unless you update to the lastest OS and that always make a old iPhone completely useless, that’s how your lame phone is still working, a android can work even with a OS from 4 years ago like my Galaxy S2 that still work without issues, i won’t get technical with you cause you’re a sheep and only knows about chewing and pooping, anything else is too complicate for your pee brain.

  2. I used it in my last cruise on September, i also used during the summer to take pics of corals and fish since i got it 2 years ago. Because you can’t get underwater doesn’t mean i can’t , i can easily go to 30 fts but my phone can’t, for those times i have a go pro and a Fuji XP.

  3. Oh so now its 30minutes – and i bet you cant even go down 15′ at 12′ my ears start to hurt
“Every summer” – so one so far? Lol give me a break dude – oh and nobody cares

  4. You didnt say that – now your chanjng it up
You said you spend money on girls – now your saying you dont because perhaps you realize how low of a bar you set for yourself…

  5. Really thats why my iphone 4 still works? – well it was my gfs and i hated it but it still fuqing works…

Whos paying who??? Let me get some…
Take your conspiracy theories else where you stubborn mule – i swear i have a donkey and he is less stubborn that you!

  6. please, you obviously are a pay sheep, Samsung work fine after you turn off or remove all the garbage carrier put on the phone, have the Galaxy S2, still working, have the S5 Active, rooted and move it to T-Mobile with no problems and my main phone is a Note4, all of them working fine without crashes or slowdowns, enjoy your apple iPhone and enjoy paying for everything for two years when your get forced to buy the newest iPhone cause their mandatory updates make your phone completely useless.

  7. Dude i use mine quiet often, i have the Note 4 as my main phone but my trusty Galaxy S5 Active is my phone when i go to the beach, swimming or snorkeling.

  8. is waterproof to 30 mins and been with mine to deeps of 15 fts without problems. I live on the Caribbean and use it every summer when i go snorkeling.

  9. i don’t pay for girls, I like exIsheep like to spend my money wisely, i travel to new and exciting places to learn about other cultures, food and enjoy nature, i get the girls for free and later dump her when she start asking for gifts and stuff, see use my money wisely.

  10. And you know what else I do other than save iPhones? Where did you gleen this information? Sounds to me you’re among those opinionated loud mouth pencil neck pin heads that think they know it all.

  11. Apple has touted the fastest rollout of its iphone-7 software ever. According to reports from iphone-7 is now installed on 50 per cent of devices capable of running the operating system

  12. Sorry but the phone isnt watter proof its water resistant i dare you to fully submerge it under water long enough to talk a video lol! And have you ever lived near the ocean? Salt water effects everything! If you continually did that your phone would be f ked up ina. Day

  13. If you have to spend money on girls to get them and call that enjoying life than thats sad and so are you for saying that – sorry but buying girls isnt “enjoying life” there is much more to life than that lol, you must be in high school

  14. I was an android user i had the htc one x and loved then then one day it stopped working so i got an s3 – oh man the thing sucked it had the biggest lag from seitching between apps and texting – i blame the kernel developers. Then i got the next galaxy – same problems so i had the choice between the newer galaxy or the iphone 6 – and i told the guy at the store about the problems with the other galaxies i had and he said it still had a little lag – i said that they still dont have it fixed? – my friend has the newest galaxy and hes always complaining about the same lag i hated – im so glad i got the iphone 6 – i hated the 4 and 5 the screens were to small and the features sucked but the 6 is better than any droid i ever had and i had a lot. Every droid user i see is always complaining about the same things i hated and the GOOD apple kernel developers that probably get paid a lot more and have more experience took those problems laughed at them and wrote some good code.
I wont be going back to droid and the faulty hardware with poorly written code… And i see the app store as the old school snes library – the games had to be licensed so they werefor the most part good. Same with apple it has to be done a proper way and only from the app store making sure quality comes first – you can see in the reviews because any minor flaw causes people to gripe because the are expecting flawless quality running good – because thats all you get with the new iphones is quality hardware and spftware that works!
One thing i hated was maps NEVER worked on samsung – i havent ever had a problem with iphone… Let me say from experience, Android users are truly getting the short end of the stick. The biggest arguement they have is the worst – all those free apps without being checked – you might as well suck a shit milkshake through a straw! None of them will ever work because they have to run on so many different machines were iphone is optimized for only one and will ALWAYS work…

  15. If you have high res anywhere in your house the camera is a nice upgrade since you wont have to lug around a camcorcder or digital camera, that being said, if your just getting this for the camera might as well buy a good digital camera for half the price and just save up for the iphone 7 since its features will most likely be more than speed and camera.
The 6s should be nearly double the speed – the reason you havent noticed a difference is because developers havent had time to take advantage yet, tust me in the next upcoming months the speed will be very noticable since newer appa will most likely take advantage of the speed by using better algorithms or larger arrays, there is a lot you can do with it.

  16. poor sheep, Samsung S5 is far from a failure and is the best waterproof phone after the Sony Z serie, no only it can survive been on salt water, you can use it underwater to take pics or video with better quality that anything Apple ever have and no expensive cover need it, no home bottom, try the new nexus phone and probably the next Galaxy phone also, better screen, camera and overall technology will eventually come to the iphone 10+ or later, by them android users will be using tiny devices with holographic displays or better.

  17. he is definitely more intelligent than you JonL, he spend his money on experiences and enjoying life, you just have a outdated phone even when you buy it new.

  18. I get a new phone each year and pass the old one to the missus. The 6s(plus) is a minor upgrade from the 6 unless you care about the specific features discussed, such as the camera. I have not noticed any significant speed or other operational improvements or any apps using the improved touch to date. Being realistic, the phones are becoming a mature product. I’ll probably get an iPhone 7 and trade in the 6 plus, then start stretching out the cycle or buying a phone a year behind the current model.

  19. What have you got to show for it? Why would you judge someone based on that little snippet. Do you even know the definition of stupid? Maybe you earn that pittance and spend it all on girls, that would make me cynical as well. Little advice, you don’t need to brag about your income and then neutralize it by saying you have to pay to get girls, I’d keep that to myself if I were you.

  20. Heaven forbid you died next week, then no iPhone 6s or 7. Life’s too short, I get one every year, and still have at least one of every model to compare them all.

  21. #1 I will not “wait” for any iPhone. I have an iPhone6S 128GB and I need this phone with iMovie to make videos for my Youtube. My Youtube earns over $1500 a month.

#2 I don’t think Apple wants people taking their iPhones in water – especially at the beach where the water is salty. Unless the phones have no holes whatsoever – no mic, no speaker, etc – I don’t see this happening. The Samsung Galaxy S 5 tried waterproofing AND WAS A COMPLETE FAILURE. So much so that the Galaxy S 6 has no-such waterproofing.

#3 We will have absolutely no idea of the iPhone 7’s design till the leaks at the factory come out. Everything about it is mere speculation. I honestly see no point in wraparound displays. It’s a GIMMICK. Apple doesn’t like to use features that are dramatically different from older devices – to ensure older software doesn’t have issues running on newer devices.

I doubt apple would want to add a feature that’s so known as being a Samsung feature. The last thing they’d want is people claiming they copied Samsung.

EVEN IF THEY DID… because iPhone runs iOS and nothing else can run iOS – users with iOS will continue to upgrade to the newer, more powerful devices anyway. I love iOS and I don’t mind being locked in. iOS does exactly what I want it to do.

  22. >Why You Should Wait For Apple iPhone 7?

No. It’s: Why You Should Wait For Apple iPhone 7.

Or if you’re really asking a question, it’s: Why Should You Wait For Apple iPhone 7?
