Disable Camera Shortcut On Nexus 5X, 6P: Here’s How

Updated on

Google’s latest and greatest Android devices, namely, the Nexus 5X and 6P, are out now, and from initial impressions, they’re really good devices. So if you have managed getting your hands on these new smartphones, then you must know that there’s a quick shortcut to launch the camera. This shortcut will work even if you are already running an app or even if the screen is off. To launch the camera, all you need to do is to press the power button twice, which will come in really handy when you want to quickly take a picture.

Once you do this, the phone will vibrate, and the shortcut will be activated. The camera app will open in a moment, and you’re ready to take your picture. While this quick way to launch the camera is very handy and useful, not everyone would like to use this feature. Sometimes this shortcut can also mistakenly launch the camera, although that would happen rarely. That’s why, fortunately there’s a way to disable the camera shortcut on both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.

Disabling the camera shortcut on Nexus 5X and 6P

Disabling the camera shortcut is very simple on both the smartphones. Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Launch the Settings app from the app drawer.

Step 2: Tap on Display from the options.

Step 3: On this screen, slide the switch for “Press power button twice for camera” to the OFF position.

That’s all you need to do. Now the camera won’t be launched if you press the power button twice on your Nexus device. Should you ever change your mind, just turn this option to ON from the same location.
